3. Kurt Warner, NYG, UFA (2,054 yards, 62.8% comp, 6 td, 4 int)
Who knows, really. Early on, Warner appeared rejuvenated. He led the Giants to a 5-0 start before falling apart, and being moved aside for the "Eli Era." And even as Manning struggled, Warner remained a high paid clipboard holder for the remainder of the season. Warner's biggest obstacle is his insistence on starting. If he can set aside his ego, and accept a backup role, he will be in high demand.

BEST FITS: Chicago, Baltimore, NY Jets, Buffalo

He doesn't fit at all.

He voided his contract with the Giants so he wouldn't be a backup QB. Plus, he would be looking for decent money- not a lot but more than I think we want to spend

I'd gladly take him at a good price if he realizes that he would be coming as the backup.

Warner would never sign here though. He was just in a situation like this in New York. He will try for a team without a young QB project and one where he has the best chance for playing time.

Doesn't matter what team he signs with they will most likely have a young QB project but he will choose one that isn't anticipated on being the starter this year.

Teams like the 49ers, Dolphins, Cardinals, and Cleveland would be them kind of choices. At least two of them will draft their hopeful QB of the future.

If Brett Favre retired(which I doubt he will but if he did) I could see him ending up on a team like that. Or a team like Tampa if Grisie doesn't return(which he probably will) to compete with Simms.

With his age and history the last few years a stop gap QB is all he's gonna be. Most teams are settled in with their QB's or have a younger QB with the keys to the car.

If either the 49ers, Dolphins, Cardinals or Browns passed on him for a stop gap QB he will have no other choice then to be a backup if he wanted to stay in the NFL.

Everyone else besides them teams already have their starting QB this year.

Pass...he's nothing more than Drew Bledsoe with a bum thumb. We need someone similar to Losman's skills to fill in if he gets hurt so that the offense doesn't have to adapt to the new guy too radically.

OK what If he says he'll be the backup and we give him a cheap contract would you still not take him  he's still a good QB!!!

What if Jim Kelly comes out of retirement? Almost as likely as that scenario

Pass.

We would actually have to look at his wife whenever the camera scans the crowd.

I assume our offense will be geared to utilize JP's mobility. Warner is about as mobile as Drew. Guys like Garcia and Fiedler would be better fits.

Maybe Warner can kick fieldgoals?

Warner doesn't want a back-up role. I admire the competitive desire, but he has the ring already. Why not just coast and take some decent vet money as a back-up somewhere? Other thing is, he didn't exactly have a great time in Giants stadium throwing. Would he do better in the Ralph? Both are cold-weather sites with funky wind.

Watching them throw last year gave ME fits, and I'm not a Browns or Fins fan.

Personally, his talents (or lack there of) are just that of Bledsoe. He has a strong arm, but is very shaky in the pocket, and fumbles the ball too much, plus he might be asking a bit more money than we could sign another backup for.

I still think he has something left in the tank personally. But he needs a great oline to be successful and I don't think he'll take a backup role.

hell no- I don't want him here. As several other people have already pointed out, he's got all the same problems as Bledsoe. And he was horrid in NY. He's at the bottom of the list of back-ups I'd like to see here next year- I'd rather just keep Matthews.

Brenda Warner is as attractive as the Jills.

Kurt Warner is Bledsoe who fumbles more and gets hurt. Pass.

He does have a lot of problems, but he played very well underneath good coaching. His decline began under Martz and continued in NY under Coughlin. I wonder how he might do with the coaching staff we have here? Risky but interesting.

I assume everything that's been said about Warner wanting to start, and wanting more money than the Bills want to pay is true, BUT if it weren't, sure, he'd be a good backup.

He's nothing more than Drew Bledsoe with a superbowl ring (as a starter).
