<img src="http://www.billszone.com/images/artwander/artwander002.JPG" border="2" align="left"><b>from Art Wander</b><p>Hi Guys,
<P>
Just thought I’d drop you a little note after watching the Jets lose to the Oakland Raiders Monday night giving added hope to the Bills playoff chances.

After watching the Jets jostle you in the Meadowlands, I wondered what in the world happened to the offense in the previous three games before Sunday’s biggie against the Fish. So I did something that I figured might take my mind off the many mis-steps in the past few weeks. I traveled south to play a little golf and then I had a decision to make.
<P>
Here it is Sunday morning in the south; the local TV station is going to show the Tennessee/Giants game and the temperatures were beautiful with the sun shining and the golf clubs in the car. #1 son, belter of the ball, squints as he looks up and says, “Wow, what a day – we should play today.”
<P>
Oh woe is me, what am I going to do. What would you do Gregg? Or Kevin? Or Jerry? Or Drew? Oh, I know you would yearn to hit the little white pellet but you had to work last Sunday. I understand that.
<P>
Well, says I…….”I’m going to watch the game – it’s a very important game.” After all, even though Miami isn’t the rival it used to be when Kelly battled Marino; when Ferguson flared against Griese, when Marv and Shula brained it out but it’s still Miami and they were on top of the division. Win the game….get a little help from other teams and the hopes that hovered over the city after the first 8 games of the season would be raised again.
<P>
So I hit a great little sports bar that had enough TV sets, including a pair that brought in the Bills game. There I sit with #1 son. We both figure that after it was 14-3, things weren’t going to be any different this week and the sun was beckoning. Well, this is the Xmas season so why not get into the spirit of the season. Up Bledsoe; charge Henry; go Peerless; run Eric. Let’s make no mistake about it….the crowd in that place was definitely a Dolphins crowd. They were cheering for Miami while we sat and watched. And we had the last laugh as you guys poured it on.
<P>
I’m not going to bore you with the details of the tremendous win –wow, fellows, it was reminiscent of the first several games of the season when the Bills were lighting it up. Naw…I’m not going to get back into that great win since you saw the film and enjoyed it.
<P>
Instead, guys, I feel I’m obligated to let you know that four Sundays on the calendar have been circled. How soon I go back south to play a little golf is up to you fellas.
<P>
This Sunday, the playoffs begin for you and the Bills. Lose and you’re out of it. Simple as that. The rest of the season might be spent listening to the hum of the motor on the bus. Sunday is a playoff game; the next game is a playoff game. Continue to win and you’re in the battle.
<P>
I want you, the coaching quartet, to warble and hum that little tune by the Beatles, “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Get it while you win and the division championship is yours and a trip to the playoffs is a year ahead of schedule.
<P>
I know you’re going to come out in the press conferences saying, “We’re focused only on this one game.” That’s always a nice touch – a little overdone – but it’s the politically correct thing to say. I almost snicker whenever that’s said. Face it…….losses cannot be accepted. So, where does that leave one? The Bills need a 4 game winning streak.
<P>
Why, for heavens sake, Sunday is going to be the first playoff game. It’s against the New England Patriots. Bledsoe’s going home to friends and familiar surroundings. This time, he’ll be wearing the uniform of the enemy. THIS is the biggest game of the year (again).
<P>
Fellas, I know we’ve had a few disagreements in these past 13 weeks but it’s time to put that in the past. You guys can restore the faith of the faithful who poured into that cavern last Sunday with the snows cascading on the cold bodies and froze the fish in their tracks. I ask you, oh sideline braintrusts – can’t it be done again times 4?
<P>
OK, I’m not one to dally. Sometimes you listened to me….most of the time you ignore me, yet, I feel a suggestion or two wouldn’t hurt in this hugely important contest. <a href="http://www.billszone.com/YourSite/global/templates/view.php?state=news&action=YourSite_content&month=12&nid=2966">MORE...</a>
