Now that Tim Brown has his 1,000th career reception, the man who threw him the pass is poised for a run at one of the NFL's loftiest records.

Rich Gannon, who passed for 342 yards in the Raiders' 26-20 victory over the Jets Monday night in Oakland, Calif., is within Dan Marino's record 5,084 yards passing in 1984.
