    Nate Clements

Just throwing this out there but if we were not able to get Nate to agree to an extension through several efforts and you knew he wanted to test FA waters. Would you be opposed to trading him?

I dont want to say we are giving up on 05 but if we cant retain him now would be the time, coming off a Pro Bowl season his value is high and with a week DB class his value should be more than his worth.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Only if we got a new #1 corner ala Samari Rolle or Ty Law... I'm not really comfortable with the CB depth chart position as is...

      K. Thomas and T. Vincent are excellent Depth Wise at Corner.. TV feels he can still be effective at CB if needed.

Safety Depth is an issue especially at SS.. Coy Wire is not a viable option to step in for any extended play if Milloy gets injured again.

If we tried to re-sign him, and knew he was going elsewhere...I'd be open to dealing him.

Although there is always the possibility of giving him the franchise tag this time next year.

I'd definitley transition him next year if there is no extension.

Only if we got another young DB that is just as good as Nate, because he's one of the best five in the league, easily.

Is there a team in the league with a quartet that is that much better then Clements, McGee, Thomas and Greer?

San Fran has pretty solid Db's Spencer Rumph and Plummer.
