    Jets sign Putzier

Five years, 12.5 million. If Denver doesn't match, the Jets give Denver their sixth round pick.

no link.. it was reported on WFAN radio. i found it on footballguys messageboard.. i trust the source..

Putzier is young and stretches the field. He's not a great TE, but he's the type of guy the Jets needed.

They also signed DT Lance Legree (NYG).

Too bad, I really liked the guy - but it sounds like a lot of money for a basically unproven TE. The 6th round draft pick sounds reasonable, though.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Good move by the Jets. The TE draft is pretty bad this year with the exception of 1 or 2 names. A 6th rd would be good to give up for him...the money does seem a little high, but when there are slim pickings people tend to overpay - that's why JJ got so much...

Ground your Jets Vilma, no way you're shooting this guy down.

Yeah, I also liked Putzier a lot, but 2.5 mill a year? I wouldn't of gone more than 1.5.

Don't forget it's not just the cash- but a pick as well.

All the Jets did was negotiate for the Broncos. They are going to match.
