DESPITE NHL LOCKOUT, HOCKEY COMES TO VIRGINIA

(March 4, 2005 Herndon, VA) -- Fans of the Buffalo Sabres and other professional hockey teams have little to cheer about these days, but Jimmy's Old Town Tavern along with several sponsors are attempting to change that, at least a little. Jimmy's, located at 697 Spring Street in Herndon, is hosting "Nickel City Sunday" on March 20th, which will feature a game between 12 NHL alumni from the Buffalo Sabres and Jimmy's "All New Hockey Team." The event will take place at the Ashburn Icehouse ice rink at 21595 Smithwich Road and will be open to the public.

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

Tickets will be $5.00 each with raffles, commemorative T-Shirts, and other prizes at the game. Proceeds will benefit the Sabres Alumni Scholarship fund. Sponsors of the event include Independence Airways, Holiday Inn Express of Herndon, American Lumber Hockey, and Jimmy's Old Town Tavern.

Current and former Pro players scheduled to appear include: Jim Bedard, Richie Dunn, Grant Ledyard, Larry Playfair, Craig Muni, Fred Stanfield, Derek Smith, Rick Martin, Rob Ray, Matthew Barnaby, Ric Seiling, and Morris Titanic.

The doors will open at 11:00am, with faceoff at noon.

The event will be followed by a "Meet the Players" event at Jimmy's.

Tickets for the game are available at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern.

No problem. E-mail Jimmy. Have him save you a ticket if you definitely want to go and say I referred you.

Matthew Barnaby and Craig Muni have cancelled due to "family" stuff...

Mike Boland and Don Lever are coming instead!

          Is anybody planning on going?
