    Possible Sleeper Kicker

He was released by the eagles I don't know why...

    Eagles | Hoambrecker Released - from www.KFFL.com
    Mon, 7 Mar 2005 15:36:18 -0800

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the release of PK Mackenzie Hoambrecker.

Not only does he have one of the best names in the history of names, the guy has a great leg. He kicked a 53-yard game winning field goal in a preseason charger game this past year. He lost out to Nate Kaeding in charger camp. The guy is young and has bounced around the league. He kicked a game winning 59-yard field goal in college. He made .893% of his kicks his senior year. So he shows good accuracy.

I think we should bring him in to compete against lindell. What is there to lose?

Mackenzie Hoambrecker, of Northern Iowa, kicked a school-record 59-yard field goal, in his final college game, with 37 seconds left to give Northern Iowa a 25-24 victory over Southwest Missouri State. Hoambrecker finished the season 25-of-29. He also led the NCAA I-AA in field goals made (25) and field-goal percentage (.893) with at least 11 attempted. Hoambrecker also finished 11th in the nation in scoring with 93 points. He set a school and Gateway Conference record when he hit five field goals in a game, performing the feat twice in 2002.

Philly and Iowa aren't exactly Buffalo but at least he wasn't in a dome or warm weather city, I think it's worth a shot.

the cool thing about kickers is you can see so much of their talent at any time. the only question is how much cool they have, and that could be assessed with careful observation and interviewing.

I'd say bring this guy in before the draft, see what he's got.

Don't we have a 6th to squander, too, or have we mercifully given that one away already? There's always room for another long snapper.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Oh. . . As to why the Eagles cut him: Akers is perhaps the best kicker in the NFL.

We don't need a kicker. I enjoy 27 yard missed FGs...at home...season on the line...after a drive starting from our 1 yard line.

Can we all just agree that kickers don't matter?! Any body off the street can be signed to do it. Besides, it's difficult to upgrade at Kicker, so we should just give up trying.
