Erma Bombeck on Acid. Two bonuses toward the back of the book, "Wide Right, Wide Wrong!" (better than Marv Levy's recollection. Although I was impressed at Marv's purple prose!) and "Number 32, Where Are You?" ( a poetic look back at the OJ Simpson trial) Thank you for noticing you old grouch. This one you might like, it's a bathroom book.

You should have done a countDOWN...build suspense, and count down to the single most horrifying food.

Are you taking notes, Patti?

Well I think the single most horrifying would be whatever the Phillipino kids ate yesterday that killed 27 schoolchildren. (That was on our paper's front page this morning) Some kind of weird, REALLY NUTRITIOUS starchy root.

The thing is, it sounds like the food is so common in southeast Asia that everybody eats it. (You have to cook it really thoroughly or it turns into cyanide in your body. Almost sounds like a Rural Legend!) So you wouldn't think this is the first time a group of people keeled over.
