I just heard a clip off ESPN, it seems that Kelly Holcomb wants to compete for the starting job.

We might have a QB controversy afterall.

I'm not surprised.

He does say that it is JP's team "Going into camp", so he knows hes going in as #2, but still.

Hey...I got some zone bucks!

If that's what he said then he totally contradicts what he said and the Bills organization have said.

EVERY QB regardless of what they are on the depth chart is going to attempt and compete for the starting job

That can only help JP. Don't forget what he said " I would have prefered to win the job outright" well now he can. You need to have competition at every position, it sharpens your skills and helps you to cut down on your mistakes. I'm all for Kelly H feeling that way.

IT will be a healthy battle. It is well known that JP has more potential with his athletic abilities, but it will be good for him to stay on his toes. Nothing to worry about guys!:peace:

I'd respect Holcomb less if he didn't want to start. What QB doesn't? It means he'll play his ass off in preseason and practice, and that's what you want your backups to do.

It also means that if JP steps under center on opening day, it'll be because he earned it.

i just listened to the interview.. KH specifically said, when questioned about if he thinks he could start "man.. i dont even want to talk about that.. i got alot of things to do, like learn the play book, ect.."

it wont ever be a problem.. he will push jp and hopefully make jp better.

would you rather have a guy that is happy being a backup. Nothing wrong with a little comp at QB - afterall JP has just potential he has proven nothing.

Clean competition, that's all it is.

This is what TD wanted fellas... JP needs someone to push him... I'm just glad it didn't end up being Matthews.. although he would make a good #3

I will take the guy that wants to be in the game any day.

We need to cut him right away. Don't need any malcontents or QB controversy.

Absolutely! Is Hobert still alive?

This is a good thing because one it makes J.P. work harder. and two if Holcomb gets the starting job it just means he is the better QB.

I still can't see JP as back up...what a waste of a draft pick. :shakeno:

The guy say's he would like to start so we automatically are going to have a controversy? Every QB worth his salt wants to start! You forgot to mention in every interview he say's he understands his role.

Who said JP was going to be a back up? And the guy hasn't even started a game yet and you're going to label him a wasted draft pick already. WOW

:dizzy:
I'm not labeling him anything, nor did I say he WOULD be back up!
Follow along, ok?
If they compete, JP could lose and become the back up. Key word COULD. Get it now? :shakeno:

I can see there being a chance for a controversy....but it won't happen in camp.
Since JP is mobile and aggressive like Vick, the chances of him getting hurt are a bit higher than more conservative and less mobile QBs. So lets say JP struggles a bit at first, and in week 5, just as he is starting to turn the corner, he gets sidelined with bruised ribs or something. Holcomb comes in and plays his balls off. He looks better than JP right away because he is an experienced vet and is fresh. When JP is healed up....then the controversy has potential. QB controversies are a product of a weak willed coaching staff. To me, Mularky does not seem weak willed. I don't think we will ever have a QB controversy under his watch.

JP is the starting QB for the Buffalo Bills, we all know this. However it is better for JP to compete with a competent QB, not a immobile brick with an arm. But since it won't really be a "competition", ....
