If this is true, I would say TD is making room to sign someone soon!

i would be surprised if he was released. that would leave milloy as the only SS on the roster. baker and vincent could not play SS.

i would not be surprised if we draft a SS and THEN he is released.

I don't see how he makes the team this year at his current salary....clump..how much room is there in his contract to restructure him? What kind of cap # does he have now and how much could we trim out?

What kind of cap # does he have now and how much could we trim out?An escalator in his contract that went into effect this year brings his base salary from $455,000 to $1.43 million, according to union records. His release would save $975,000.

at that price I sure hope I don't hear "coy wire burned for the TD" again.

nah we will get that when we burn him if we play his new team

you really think that anyone will let him on the field in their secondary???that's a death wish if I ever heard one  .. Coy was terrible!!! He was a very good Special teams player but in this "era of the cap" thats just not a good enough reason to justify over a million in contract figures. I dont see Coy catching on with anyone else and think that he will be back with the bills at a lower contract figure some time b-4 mini camp.

I would like to see a link before we start the speculation. Cause, I am pretty sure when Milloy is gone we will need something at SS.

Coy Wire should remain on our roster. He may suck balls on defense, but he's a menace on special teams. He contributed nicely to us being tops in the league. I know he is going to make over $$$ this year, but it may be worth it for the special teams. However if he is released, I won't shed a tear.

I hope that Coy Wire is not the answer! :nervous: I think we could find some one capable for the postion outside the team in the next 2 years or so.

He played well in a bad defense in his first year IMO. Or he did not play as badly as some other player who sucked. It was a mistake to try to covert him to FS just as it was a mistake to overpay for Lawyer (Lawyers are always overpaid). He was a demon on special teams and was all over the field making plays. Bills make take the risk to overpay him like they are with Mike Williams rather than trying to find a replacement who may or may not fit in April made a comment that the Rams gave him no one as valuable as Wire on special teams to use to design plays.

I think Bills decided that Wire was more valuable than PP and used letting go of PP as message to Wire to renegotiate or risk being cut. I wonder what clauses he met in contract?
