    Latest Bruschi rumor...

The latest rumor is that Bruschi will undergo a surgical procedure at Mass General shortly to repair a small hole in his heart. The condition is congenital and caused his stroke, as a small clot formed in his heart and went through the hole to his brain. The surgical procedure will not be invasive, but be performed by inserting a small catheter in the groin, monitoring it with a small camera.

Supposedly, this procedure is quite common and his recovery is expected to be quick and 100%. His recovery is expected to be complete, and he will be able to play again next season.

Again, this is unsubstantiated rumor, but I figured I'd pass it along.

BTW, they say he would only be in the hospital 1-2 days with the procedure. The source of the rumor is 790 the Score, an all-sports talk station in Providence, RI.

While I hate the Pats as a team I have the utmost respect for the players and if the rumor is true am glad to hear that Tedy will be able to play next year. I hate to see a player of his caliber career end that way.

As a result of a congenital defect like that, he has been likely having slight difficulty with blood oxygenation. I'm surprised that he hasn't had any dizzy spells, heart murmors, or other problems with blood clots. Perhaps he has, but he's been keeping that on the down low. Good for him! I hope his surgery goes well. Anytime that there is surgery done on the heart, there is general weakness. Sounds like his will be less severe than more invasive procedures. I hope he gets back on the field without any increased risk.

Why is there a need to start a thread about this on the BILLS fan site?

You come off like it's something we all should know, and it's something we should all care about and discuss like he's a part of the Buffalo community...

I mean, I wish him all the best, too, but go tell a Patriots forum...
