According to Clark Judge (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8314615) of CBS Sportsline:

"Law's agent, Carl Poston, met with the Chiefs at the February scouting combine and later told team officials that his client has a four-year, $26 million offer to return to the Patriots. The Chiefs can't verify that, but they aren't interested in paying big money unless they catch a break from the player in negotiations anyway."

That sounds like the same contract they offered him last year.

I think the one last year was a 6 year deal...and he said it was disrespect or a slap in the face or some crap...:shakeno:

It doesn't matter to me. I just don't want him here. He's 31, injured and overpriced.

if he had a $26mil 4 year deal then why not sign it...he isnt going to get that any place else...

I saw that too...

I think it may just be Law trying to leverage the Pats against the Chiefs, hoping for a big payday. His agents clearly know that the Chiefs are desperate, so if he makes it seem like he has multiple multi-year options, maybe they will overpay.

Good move on his agents part

That's exactly why I think it's just agents being agents.

It's possible that the contract was set up heavily backloaded though.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Kind of like Drew's deal with Dallas where the first two years are guaranteed at low dollars and the remaining years are funny money.

The Patriots have "flatly denied" (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/articles/2005/03/23/a_dubious_theory_on_law/) there is such an offer. It sounds like the Poston Brothers trying to raise the price.

Is it me? Or are all these agents just outright crooks? Are there any reasonably logical ones in business?
