Packers, Vikings heat up cold night

After enduring single-digit temperatures for three hours, the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings really got hot.

As Darren Sharper's interception sealed Green Bay's 26-22 comeback victory over the Vikings on Sunday night, both teams scuffled on the field and Chris Hovan and Brett Favre got into another shouting match.

The more film the Minnesota Vikings watched Monday, the angrier they got. Back and forth went the tape, each instance revealing a new twist to their postgame brawl Sunday night with the Green Bay Packers.

They saw Vikings teammates Matt Birk and Randy Moss walloped during Darren Sharper's 66-yard interception return on the game's final play, Birk by defensive lineman Steve Warren and Moss by linebacker Nate Wayne. They saw Packers safety Marques Anderson diving into the legs of receiver Chris Walsh, who earlier had slammed Anderson with a hit of his own, and tight end Jim Kleinsasser admittedly leaving the bench to retaliate.

After gaining 17 yards on a pass from Daunte Culpepper, Walsh took a knee at the Minnesota 43 with four seconds remaining.

Edwards teed off on Walsh, and the Vikings called timeout with one second left, giving Culpepper a chance for one long last pass.

Vikings coach Mike Tice argued that a player cannot be hit after he kneels. But Packers coach Mike Sherman said Edwards was within his rights.

"The whistle hadn't blown and the officials had not said the play was over," Sherman said. "Until the play is over, he had the football, he's a viable threat with the football. So, I don't see how he could have done it any other way."

Who are the biggest pack of crybaby fans in your division? for us it used to be the Bucs, but probably the Vikings since we got shed of the Tampa bush leaguers.

Not to be controversial or anything, but I'd say the Packers are more whiny than the Vikings fans. The Vikes fans are kind of like the Lions fans: resigned to their doom. Bears fans are just jerk offs. Packer fans aren't necessarily whiny, but I'd say they're the whiniest of the bunch.

I saw the game and do NOT remember the Edwards hit. I do not remember Edwards teeing off on the Viking player, but if he did then I would agree with the Vikings. If a player has 1 knee on the grond, then the defensive player should just touch him and NOT hit him!

-- Brett Favre apologized Wednesday for making an obscene gesture toward Chris Hovan after the Green Bay Packers' victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Also, the league said that the participants in the teams' postgame melee about 50 yards away from the Favre-Hovan exchange Sunday night could expect fines but not suspensions when punishment is meted out Thursday.
