I could argue they should continue to get o-lineman, but with Shelton at LT, Anderson at LG, Teague still starting at C, and RG and RT locked up, why spedn your first pick on the o-line? They wont go that way IMO. But this assumes that Shelton is traded for before they pick, thats still a big if, but with Henry dropping his "must have a new contract demansd", and the Cards dropping their "want more than just Henry demands" the ball is is our court and I think we land Shelton AND swab 2nd's, or at least swab for Shelton straight up.
Anyways, I can easily see that even if we DONT get Shelton, we still dont go o-line in the 2nd round. Teague would likely be our new starting LT which leaves C open and really no one is worthy of the 55 pick at C, Baas is the only one and he will be gone. As far as T go, Terry may still be there but his off the field problems are not the type of crap the Bills take. Munoz has bigtime health issues so hes probably out.
As far as DT, Hawthorne may be there and he would be sorely tempting and may be our pick. Patterson is a reach at that spot IMO.
So, where do we go then? Maybe, just maybe we go with the big TE Alex Smith from Stanford, he is a pass catching stud and has done well with the blocking so far.
There is a guy out there that is a stud in the making from a very small school. If and only if, the Bills land Shelton AND stay at 55, I would not be against drafting Jerome Mathis WR from Hampton, he was the fastest gut at the draft and one of thje fastest ever. He should during the post season bowl game that he is a stud with 2 TD's. He can kick return, is a solid deep threat, is well built, gets tough yards, and would be an instant upgrade to Reed, or Aiken. His potential is sky high IMO, and with our starting o-line set, we really could afford a sleeper pick. Yes its a risky pick, but the reward could be huge with one of the best WR corps in the league and a stud rushing game. Again, this is all revolving around not needing any starting o-lineman. I would grab Matt Jones maybe, but he is said to have issues with working hard.
If I were the Bills, and I could afford to make a risky pick at 55, and my o-line was set, and there were no DT's that intrigued me, and even if Alex Smith was there, I would probably draft Jerome Mathis or take a chance no Matt Jones (but yes, I would convert him to TE or an H-back or at leats play him in the slot).
BTW, Nugent is said to be a 3rd rounder at best.
MY other sleeper WR is Chauncey Stovall from Fla State, he a Moulds clone without the hype.
