He was my pick to have a breakout year last season . He's been average at best. He was supposeddly a poor mans Colvin .Isn't this his last year under contract? :idunno:

He doesnt get all the hype because he is playing next to two of the best LB's in the NFL.

If he were on another team he might be alittle more of an all star.

Colvin has been a poor man's Colvin for the Pats.

He doesn't get any hype because he doesn't make big plays.

Does he lose games for us? No.

But teams don't have to gameplan for the guy.

He is a solid, but very average LB.

If he were to go down via injury, you would see very little change with a younger player there.

If Posey doesn't step it up this year, we could use an upgrade.

Step it up how? He's a solid player on a team that is a dominating defense. If his salary isn't too high, he's a great piece of this team. We don't have the money to upgrade a position that frankly, doesn't need upgrading.

Just a thought.

Imagine what this D would be like if we had a playmaker at that position. He was brought in because of his ability to rush the passer. Not sure if the system does not allow him to do so.

You can't have an all-pro at every position. As long as the team has playmakers, then a solid player who does his job is exactly what you want.

Posey doesn't get a lot of the credit he deserves. He's not a big stat guy, but if you watch him on Sundays, he does a lot to help the others get big stats. There are so many times that he takes on a block, or more often, turns a play back inside for the other guys to make the tackle. Very disciplined, unselfish player. The problem is that we brought him in as a "pass-rush specialist" but he's not really put into that type of gameplan with us. I'm happy with him, but I must admit that the young guys are very interesting prospects at this point too.

It's extremely, extremely hard to get a lot of stats and tackles on a defense that has Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Lawyer Milloy, Antoine Winfield (Posey's first year) and the rest of the Bills defense. Posey has been very solid and while he sometimes gets pushed back a yard or two, rarely gets beat. he is a solid cog on an excellent defense. He also causes a lot of fumbles, more than anyone on the team. And he's also not allowed to rush the passer very much to get sacks, which keep them down. But, for example, he got five sacks in his first year while rushing the passer well less than half the time. Which, for math experts, should tell you something.

I think Posey is a solid player but I want more pass rush from our D and if it means losing Posey for a better pass rusher who we will use than Im for it, but Id also like to see Haggan, Stamer, or Crowell get some PT too.

and we have yet to even see our 3rd round pick, crowell, do anything in 2 years.. his contract will be up before he sees the field.

I think Posey is solid. But, gr8slayer is right. It is hard to get noticed when you have 2 great LB's right next to you. But, I do like what I see of Josh Stamer. He has been impressive in his short stints....I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of him.

Don't get me wrong, for what we're paying Posey, he's worth it. It would be nice to see pick up his game though. We could use an above average player at that position.

It doesn't...he's a SLB in a 4-3 scheme which dictates he plays in coverage an awful lot

Didn't Stamer get an INT last year?yeah..against the 49ers...I remember it well cause I got a call from Kenny just before the pick :laughter:

Any doubt about Posey should be squashed with just these two posts alone. The only position I have doubt about, is DE. Our pass rush this year will seperate us from being a very good defense and a great defense.

Posey was better in a 3-4, but he's been solid in our system as well.

That's what I've been thinking as well.. I know he doesn't play the same position as Posey, but it's not like Spikes is going anywhere. Switch positions and start pushing for Posey's spot Crowell! At least Haggan and Stamer play great ST.. I still think Posey is a solid OLB anyways though.

Stamer has been another UDFA that has played well for us. He has good ball finding skills as well as he pass rushing. I don't think he would be a consistent starter, but I'd also like seeing him more on D. Solid Ster too.

Thanks for the info.No prob and yes he is  I remember my first road trip....to Baltimore for preseason in 2003...he called me at halftime and congratulated me...so I made 2 regular season roadtrips in 2004...we hung out in Seattle with AWM, :nbf: and a buddy of mine living in Oregon....and helmetguy, Mikey779777768768779798908, and I met up with him in Baltimore...along with a bunch of Zoners

it must be the offseason.

posey is a guy who will do better in a certain kind of role, but does ok in the role we have for him most of the time.

as far as the next SAM, I think crowell would be fine. if not we have a couple other guys. LB is where we are very strong.

I was unsure about Posey for 2 years now but the poster that said "He plays on a awesome D & next to #59,#51 take away from his exposure. IMO he is solid and a sure tackler. i think he fits nicely...

**Off topic but that picture of the pinto guy is wearing the jersey that i've been looking for for a long time now. That alt red that we had for 1 believe 1 season. very rare...

Posey is a solid player, he doesnt make many mistakes and he also puts good rush on the QB when he blitzes, hes a nice combo w/ Spikes and Fletcher

I agree with those who feel that Posey doesn't get the credit that he deserves--largely because of the role he is in and because of the other LBs that he is playing with.

Every time I have seen a quote from J.Gray, the HCs or Posey about his play, they have all basically said the same thing: Posey and the coaches are all happy with the job that he has been doing even though he has not put up great numbers since he has been with the Bills because the things that they are asking him to do in their defense are not necessarily reflected in the statistics. Now, I don't know if this is a case of the coaches covering for a guy in order to keep up his confidence or not, but I do know that defensive schemes can dictate what a player is asked to do for the team and, depending on the role, that can limit the numbers that a player puts up, even when he is doing what has been asked to do very well. I know that Posey was brought in to be a pass rusher, but it seems to me that, the last couple of years, he really hasn't been asked to do that as much as one would have expected. It is possible that J.Gray decided that, with his reputation coming in, he could be effectively used as a decoy more often or that he discovered that Posey could do other things that would free up Fletcher and Spikes (as well as others) and make them more effective. I don't know...but, they seem to be happy with his play and he doesn't stand out as a weak-spot in their defense.

Stamer seems to me to be an ideal back-up: a hustle guy who can be counted on to give 110% for a few plays each game, but who may not be able to hold up and sustain that over the course of a full-game as a starter.

I don't think anyone really can say how good Crowell is or could be because he simply hasn't had much of a chance to play at his position. While he was downgraded before he was drafted, based on his speed, he was a very good player in college and I was very happy that the Bills drafted him because I felt that he could be a good LB in the NFL based on the games that I saw him play. However, since he isn't getting to play much at LB, I really wish that he would stop getting penalties on special teams!
