well i got the guy I liked in pennington he was my #2 rated player in the list I mailed in. Im looking for a late 2nd round-3rd round pick to try and get some more players. Right now im like at 7.5 million roster to most 17.5 million. So i can afford to pick up two players this round or next. Pennington is a good younger vet who can be a cornerstone player for the next 5-7 years and is accurate which is something that to me is more important than being able to throw the ball 70 yards.

Actually, I had planned to take him with one of my 3rd round picks, but after seeing Farrior go, I decided not to risk it. I'm pretty sure I'll still get one of the 2 players I targeted in the next round, if not both.

Who, Ogden or Vilma? There was NO WAY Ogden would've made it past my 4 picks in round 2 and 3 to get to the 4th round. Same with Vilma. They were 2 of my top players. There's still a couple players I have real high on my board that are still out there. One of them will be an Assassin, since I have the 2nd pick in round 3. I'm hoping the other falls to me later in that round. If not, I have a backup plan.

BTW...is anyone else using Microsoft Excel to do their draft? I found that it works nicely to keep track of all the picks that you have, how much they cost, who you take, and when you do trades.

That's the problem. When we start doing 2 drafts a-day...it makes it much more difficult because we have to be here in the evening or later. I can't be here at 6pm or 7pm hardly at all. I think that we should be allowed to keep doing each draft until we hit a snag and then go back to the time requirements until that person makes their pick.

I'm not saying I don't like his picks.... but he eventually is going to have to pick someone who will touch the ball during the game. I'm not a huge fan of the Vilma pick just because I'm not sure how they are going to progress in the game. It just seems early to pick the 13th-ranked at a position, no matter how young he is.

I picked him for his wealth of potential. Much like another alum of "The U", Ray Lewis, many people believe that his pro career will far exceed his college career. So far, he's shown NO evidence to the contrary.

As for offensive "skill players", I'm not too concerned. It's more important to me, in the early going, to get a good OL and defense established. Remember, this isn't just a draft to stock this year's team, it's to stock our franchises. I don't want a bunch of highly rated vets that I'll have to replace in another couple years anyway. I'll have some, but I won't load my team up with them.

it is possible to stock your team with 22 starters that make $81 mil and then fill in with 31 backups making 100K each. Should one of those starters go down though....

That is true and they have definitely helped me fill my own rankings out. But I don't rely solely on them.

I made it clear when i took Johnson that I thought I could get lesser known guys to play the skill posistions of RB and WR. I like to think I have a deep knowledge of football and knowing alot about the past few drafts Im hoping I can steal 3 or 4 guys who were late round picks who will hopefully bloom.

That's actually a good thing. I think it means there's a lot of knowledgeable GMs here who aren't just treating this like a fantasy football draft and loading up on "skill players".
