Ill pick the next couple picks for him Ihave already prepared for that, as for the 16th round just became part of my plan to have a balanced and nice depth wise team that will give me options in future years, i have 22 picks in Rds 11-25 to build my core andhave depth for the future. I'm an accountant and a business entrepreneur so just kinda using those skills to develop a team.

I was going to take Stokley, But burleson's age and future upside won out.

Plus his stats were not to far off of Stokley's. I imagine I will only have harrison a season or two and will likely aim to draft a WR to replace him next year so I figured the age would be better.

with 3 1K receivers and a tight end who added 950+ yards and 6-7 TD's I really wanted to be a threat there. The first year I will be weaker on D, but hopefully my O keeps us in the game.

The offense is coming together just how I planned. I wont have a #1 defense but I will grab some good young LB's late and hopefully next offseason get some decent FA's.

Your team will be fine, Devin. You can still find quality on D. I'm building both my offense and my defense at the same pace, so my team looks pretty good now, at least to me. I have 3 solid OL (2 of them are All Pros), a franchise QB who has yet to reach his peek, and a star on the rise in RB Julius Jones, who had 3 games of 150 or more yards in just 7 or 8 starts. On D, I have Jenkins, the best interior OL (and, some might argue, the best DL) in the league, 2 good young corners in Jammer and Robinson, a frahchise safety in Sean Taylor, and 2 awesome LBs in Vilma and Barnett.

Well every team has its own strategy. I wouldnt take a 10 mil DE, or an aging one later and to be honest I wouldnt make half the picks some of you have made, but hey thats the beauty of being an owner. Thats the fun of this league, doing it your way.

I wanted to build around the skill positions and thats what I have done. I have one OT, and I will have another before the 12th round ends.

What does it matter if they go after it with reckless abandon? Its basically a free trial. No long term contracts. All 1 year contracts. He doesn't do well you just don't resign him. No 1 should be in any type of cap hell if they're smart.

I don't agree. If your really a good gm you would know which players to keep and do a good job of drafting depth wise that way you can afford to get rid of that $7.5m guy because you have the $3m guy that can easily replace him. Thats why its so important from here on to draft well because long term this is the most important part of the draft imo.

I agree with you but look at some of the "name" players that went in the $7.5 and $5.0 mil rounds I dont think some people are planning on dumping them after year 1, I agree with you about the $3 mil rd on thats why I have loaded up on picks in these rds, I have a few players so far I plan on keeping and others I really dont care about, but I agree in you essence

I got the tackles I wanted early on, as was my plan. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times:

My philosophy on building a team (which areas to address first):

1. offensive line
2. defense
3. the rest

That's the strategy I've tried to stay to, though I did stray for a few picks like RB Julius Jones (too good to pass up) and QB Byron Leftwich (has great talent and even greater heart; see the game where he QB'd Marshall to victory on a badly sprained ankle and the way he led the Jags to some nice comeback wins last year and a great near miss against the Steelers). Besides them, I've stuck to my plan and I'm happy w/ the results so far.

Well the Jamie Sharper situation was actually Jamie. He demanded to be traded and when they couldn't work out a trade they did him a favor and released him. Darren situation was they couldn't afford him.

I would go somewhere else to fill other needs. When something like these late picks come in they ruin the stategy. I don't mean sound like i'm *****ing but it just ruins stategies.

Thats true but at the begining of round 1 I may have started with defense instead of a QB if I knew that the majority of teams where gonna build the defensive side first, even though we each have the same amount of time between picks in a draft like this but still in the begining I had no idea where people would be drafting first where as if you where pick 10-12 you would see a beginning trend

Ahh.. I don't follow trends. I have my own board and pick from there but I can see how some other teams do get nervous and continue the trend of a particular position.

I see you're going to the 3-4. Just curious. You have Spikes, Farrior, Bell, Abraham and Coleman as part of the front 7. Spikes is going to play 1 of the OLB spots, Farrior and Bell ILB but the questions lie with Abraham and Coleman. Are you going to have Abraham play the OLB spot and are you going to play Coleman at the DE spot. IMO thats probably best. I don't think Coleman would handle playing nose too well and Abraham isn't a good enough run stopper to play an end in the 34. If you don't wanna discuss it in the thread just give me a pm.
