Is it just me or is Lionel Gates just like Travis Henry?

He has the same type of build and seems pretty strong doing 26 reps of 225Lbs.

Excellent pick as a back-up RB!

He can run and catch the ball: 8TDs rushing and 2 receiving as a senior, splitting time with E.Shelton and M.Bush. He's got good size and speed and was productive when he was on the field. He was on the field a lot on third downs because he was a better reciever and blocker than E.Shelton. I thought he might be one of the bigger RBs likely to go late in the draft who the Bills might want to take as a back-up to W.McGahee and have mentioned him in all of my posts on possible RBs that the Bills could draft.

I like it too. I picked Gates with the exact same pick in a GM Mock Draft...no joke!!

He seemed to me to be a little shiftier and was a better receiver out of the backfield in college.

What I don't understand is why Lionel Gates instead of Kay Jay Harris? Kay is bigger AND faster!!! Yeah, he has durability problems, but that is secondary when you're not planning him to be a starter...

Lional Gates RB Louisville - I love it!
I'll bet the poor kid from Louisville who now has to move to western New York and play for the Buffalo Bills doesn't "love it"!

Personally, I like Gates better than Reyes. Gates has a "nose" for the goal-line and is a tough runner.

Remember when you look at Gates' numbers that he not only split time with Shelton and, as a senior also, Bush, but that he often was on the field in the toughest situations for a RB to excel: third downs, short yardage and very often goal-line situations. He is not the "home-run hitter" that Shelton is because he's not quite as fast, but he is a tough runner--IMHO tougher than Reyes. He had nearly the same number of TDs as a senior as Reyes while getting a lot less playing time overall.

McGahee's backup? No ... that job will remain with Shaud Williams for at least one year. I'd be happy if he made the PS.

I don't think Shaud's job is too secure with the Gates pick also Williams can return kicks and punts well we have McGee, Clements, Smith, and now add Roscoe Parrish to the mix, sounds like he has a foot out the door already.

it's a very slow tour though- it starts off with their weaker material in front of half empty stadiums and takes about 4-5 years to really kick off.
