    Draft analogy

    My draft analogy:

Picture if you will...soldiers in trenches on the front line of a war. They know that not far away the enemy army is preparing to attack. The soldiers in the trenches are very low on ammo and they are running low on rations. Resupply arrives. It contains enough rations for a week, but very little ammo.

Some soldiers *****. "What good is food, when they are overrun?"

Other soldiers are happy that they won't go hungry. "Maybe more ammo or better yet, reinforcements will arrive before the attack" they say.

That night the enemy attacks. The valient soldiers repel wave after wave of the attacking horde until parts of the trenchline run out of ammo and are overrun. There are no survivors.

The ammo represents the Oline picks alot of fans wanted. The rations represent the somewhat useful picks made by the Bills, which ultimately are not useful enough for mission accomplishment (making the playoffs.)

    I don't think thats a good analogy.

A better anology would be that the army needed some heavy artillery to defend the fort. Instead the high quality heavy artilley was unavailable. So the army has the choice of some high quality, fast firing machine guns or some lower quality heavy artillery.

The army goes with the higher quality machine guns. They have to change the tactics but in the end they should still be able to get the job done.

The heavy artilley is the LT we needed. The fast firing gun is Parish and Everett.

        Going with yours...

The fort already had enough .50 cal machine guns. Instead of heavy artillery, I'd settle for mortars along with those .50 cal machine guns. Instead of only more .50 cals.

Texas Red Hot, Slimer, Slider, Slime dog...

Never, ever, refer to them as Chili dogs.

Chili dogs are Texas Red Hots ******ed cousins. Far inferior.

Perfect solution. and fits the war analogy.

                Use air power.
No ground war can be sustained when the troops are getting drilled from above.
