Are you headed to NO to see JP play in front of his Tulane crowd? Here's important info:

OK - so glad I went to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>New Orleans</st1:place></st1:City> in person. The most important thing I learned is:

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>

1. There is virtually no tailgating...most surrounding bars open early and people drink there before they walk over to the dome. There is very limited parking at the Dome and it's for upscale Season ticket holders only.

<o:p> </o:p>

2. Parking prices are ugly at city and FQ hotels (ave. $20-$30 per night). Be sure to ask about it if you're booking at a different hotel.

<o:p> </o:p>

3. How could we get a tailgate party for our visiting Bills Fans.

<o:p> </o:p>

4. That this game will be a big sell-out because of the local JP fans.

<o:p> </o:p>

3..You can save a lot of $$ (on rooms and parking) by being a few blocks from the FQ rather than right in it.<o:p> </o:p>

So here's the BEST deal I found:
<o:p> </o:p>

I had a long meeting with the manager of the HOLIDAY INN - SUPERDOME. It's located just 6 blocks from the FQ, 2 blocks from the Canel Street Trolly and 2 blocks from the Superdome. Because I'm coordinating another convention at this same hotel, they will give us all kind of concessions.

<o:p> </o:p>

He is willing to make this the "OFFICIAL BUFFALO BILLS HOTEL" for the weekend and has offered the following:

<o:p> </o:p>

1. Rooms at $115 and lower per night. The Holiday Inn Superdome is now ready to accept your reservations. But you must call them direct at 504-581-1600, ask for Reservations, then ask for the "Buffalo Bills" rate (you won't get it online or at the 800#).

The rate is in effect from Wednesday, Sept 28 through Wednesday, October 5. If you need more days and they won't approve it, ask for the Sales Manager, John Steffes.

I've blocked 100 rooms and the price will work like this. It will start at $115 and as we book more rooms the rate will drop for EVERYONE as follows:
1-25 rooms...$115
26-50 rooms...$105
51+ rooms...$95

They'll adjust EVERYONE'S rate down when they do a reservation count on September 26th. If you've already booked at this hotel, you can wait a few days and then call and transfer your reservation to the Buffalo Bills block.
<o:p> </o:p>

2. He will put on a Saturday night pre-game reception in the bar with drink specials and free wings. Or for $3 a person, he'll put out a spread. I thought that a 2-hour get toether would be better because many will want to branch out and explore the City that night. He'll also let us put up banners and decorations from Friday through Sunday.

<o:p> </o:p>

3. Opening up the bar at <st1:time Hour="9" Minute="0">9am</st1:time> Sunday with more drink specials and free snacks before we go over to the game. And of course a Victory party afterwards if we want.

<o:p> </o:p>

4. Parking at the hotel for $8 per 24 hours.

<o:p> </o:p>

5. The hotel has a free shuttle to the FQ, Riverfront and Harrah's Casino every hour on the hour.

<o:p> </o:p>

6. The hotel restaurant has good food and very reasonable priced. The rooms are very nice too.

<o:p> </o:p>

AFTER SPENDING 8 HOURS LOOKING AT VARIOUS HOTELS AND CONSIDERING DIFFERENT OPTIONS, I CAN GUARANTEE THAT THIS IS A GREAT OPTION FOR VISITING BILLS FANS. What a great opportunity to show solidarity and to party with fellow fans!

Party on...... <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_320675-->

I'm actually thinking of doing this. New Orleans is only about a 6 hour drive from Atlanta.

Yeah, I heard if you throw these thing-a-ma-bobbers called "beads" then girls will show you their breastestes... it might just be a rumor though.

I also heard N.O. has crazy spicy food and a lot of saxophone players.

The only problem is getting tickets. You say that it will sell out because of JP.

That was the word down in New Orleans, but who knows. I'd get tickets the first day they go on sale if I were you. I got mine with a group on another Bills site.

Have you got the Bills game tickets already? I didn't think they went on sale until July 1st.

A poster on another fan site has already been able to get group tickets. I got mine through him. I think it's like the Ralph - season ticket holders and groups can purchase early before they go on sale to the general public.

Forgive me for butting in but I have a piece of info that may or may not be helpful ...

I stayed at the HI Superdome for one night when I went to Jazz Fest about 8-9 years ago and it was pretty skanky back then. We had to stay there the first night of a 4-night stay because our other hotel was booked that day. Not only was it unappealing, it was more expensive than the much nicer hotel we stayed in about a block from the FQ. It was also a long way away from anything interesting (pretty sparse around the SD) so you had to take a cab everywhere.

It might be different now after so much time has passed, but I hope you checked out the place yourself because I wouldn't want to stay there again, even to go to a football game. lol.

I would think that one wouldn't need a hotel in New Orleans. Wouldn't you just be drunk the entire time? Sleep on the way home. Thats just me!!!!!

I think it was renovated back in 1999. Here's a review site. Some like it, some don't. It's probably fine for a Bills weekend, unless you really want to stay in the FQ.

I visited this property IN PERSON on April 23. It's now a 3 star rated hotel. I've booked it for an Association Convention so it's definitely fine for our Bills weekend. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. The food is great and the drinks are reasonably priced. Yes, it's 6 blocks from the FQ - which is about a 1/2 mile walk. And they have free shuttles every hour. It's 2 blocks from the dome.

This hotel is great for those who don't want to spend $150-$250 per night in a 4 star or a French Quarter hotel (+$25-$30 per night parking).

And the best part? We can hang Bills banners and "take over" the bar on Saturday night and Sunday morning for a Tailgate party.

Oh, and for the skeptics - I'm not "connected" with this hotel, nor am I getting any dollars. I negotiated this because I'm already coordinating a meeting there earlier in the week and when I inspected it, I thought it would be a great gathering place for fellow Bills fans.

Of course. Read my first thread. I checked it out personally and booked it for a conference for my work the week before. Best value for visiting Bills fans.

Because if it was later in the year they would most likely move it to accomodate TV people and who wants to make reservations and find game has been moved?

And they try to put most other conference games earlier in season so interest remains. NE @ Tampa Bay is only NFC game in 4th Quarter for AFC East

Bills fans have booked so many rooms - the hotel is now sold out for that weekend.

I was in New Orleans this weekend. Ramada Inn and Suites Superdome is right across the street from the Holiday Inn Superdome. The rooms are smaller but it's a nice property and still OK for a party weekend. They aren't interested in negotiating a rate with me or holding a room block at this time because they say they will sell out anyway.
However, they have an online special - free breakfast for 2 if you book online. This is the best alternative if you've missed out on the room block at the Holiday Inn and you can still walk over for the parties.
http://www.neworleans-ramada.com/hotel.html
Rates are avg $88.67 Friday through Monday for double or King
King suites are ave $108.67.
Parking is off site at $15 per night with no in/out privilages.

Y'all better hurry. Rates are going up all over the city for that weekend.
