The Bengals' signing of Joe Germaine has further muddled an already confused quarterback situation.
The former Ohio State star was signed from the practice squad Thursday, giving the team four quarterbacks.
It also means that if Germaine gets any significant playing time, which Bengals president Mike Brown alluded to two months ago, it could prevent Jon Kitna from reaching a playing-time incentive. Kitna has started the past nine games but play in 80 percent of the offensive snaps to earn a $1.6 million bonus.
