Flutie visits New York

Giants General Manager Ernie Accorsi told the newspaper the visit was a routine part of the Giants' evaluation of available players.

Sportsnet.ca -- Former Chargers quarterback Doug Flutie was in New York on Thursday to meet with the Giants according to a report in Friday's New York Times.

Giants General Manager Ernie Accorsi told the newspaper the visit was a routine part of the Giants' evaluation of available players.

At the moment, it remains uncertain whether Flutie has begun negotiations on a contract with the Giants but the former Argonaut did undergo a physical in New York.

If Flutie does join the Giants he would be competing with Canadian quarterback Jessie Palmer and 12-year veteran Jim Miller for a chance to back up second-year starter Eli Manning.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League are believed to have made an offer to the former CFL Most Outstanding Player. It's also been reported the team has made an offer to the former CFL star's brother Darren, a retired receiver, to entice Doug Flutie to return north of the border.

You're kidding right?

Didn't you know that every kid grows up dreaming of playing in the CFL? I can see the commercials now: "Mr. Miyagi, you just won the Grey Cup, what are you going to do now?" Mr. Miyagi : "I'm going to Canada's Wonderland."

You're kidding right? No I am not,the canadian game is more exciting for the fan and the player, if the money was the same in both leagues, there would be no NFL.

I am more a fan of the running game. The CFL is a glorified flag football league.

I am more a fan of the running game. The CFL is a glorified flag football league. We have a lot of running up here,it is all not passing. We have less stoppage then the NFL and 20 second huddles and no *** ....errr fair catch. And our players are there to play not cash the big check. And our game does not end at the 58 minute mark because the team with the ball has a 1st down. You have the better players then we do because of the money. And there is alot of good players out there, not enough room in the NFL for them all. Plus our game being on the big field alot of those big guys in the NFL would not be able to make it up here, they would be dead by the 4th quarter. But I like both leagues.:peace:

Actually Peter Jackson is considering a 4th Lord of the Rings movie but only if Doug will sign on as a wise Hobbit. Otherwise it's a no-go!!

If the CFL had large TV and Commercial contracts the game would take longer. Players in the CFL are not there for the love of the game. They are there because they still make 50 to 100 grand to play football. How much bigger is your field??? The big guys are linemen. Not exactly guys that would be tired by running the extra 10 yards.

A better comparison would be your bottom 11 rushers(starters) to the bottom 11 NFL starters or total rushing yards per team.
