Okay, I decided that I needed one more young DT to finish my starting defense because I'll be going with the 4-3. So, with the 4th pick of the 25th round, the Rochester Rampage select.....

DT Ryan Sims - Kansas City

'Bout damn time!

Okay, the war room at 7 Assassins Plaza has decided to add another young, talented player to the defensive line. This guy had a solid rookie year for the Tennessee Titans, and now will move over to the LDE spot in the Assassins' 3-4 defense. He has shown good athleticism and a knack for making plays (had 4.5 sacks, 1 FF, 2 FRs, and 3 passes defensed in only 8 starts). He still has room to improve (taking on the double team, which he will do A LOT in our scheme), but has shown both Kevin Colbert and Phil Savage enough in just one year to take him here. So...

the Erie Assassins select Randy Starks, DT/DE with our first pick in Round 25.

R. Rich

Assassins Exec VP/GM Kevin Colbert thinks our next selection will come back nicely from his injury to become a contributor to the Assassins' offense. With the drafting of Kelley Washington and Brandon Lloyd, we can afford to take a flyer on him. He has great size and speed, and will help out in the slot or as the secondary receiver. So...

the Erie Assassins select Tyrone Calico, WR with their 2nd pick in Round 25.

The Assassins will continue to attempt to bolster their pass rush with the next pick.

This guy really impressed both Exec VP/GM Kevin Colbert and Director of Player Personnel Phil Savage in the playoffs last year, wreaking havoc on Michael Vick in the NFC title game. We think he'd be a great edge rusher on passing downs and gives us excellent quality and depth. So...

Yeah. I had to make a correction in Round 29, as you only had me w/ 2 picks in that round (I have 3). One trade wasn't taken into consideration. It's been fixed, though.

Knowing the winds that blow in off of Lake Erie in the fall and winter the Norsemen have attempted to build an offense that is clearly focused on running the ball. Left to right, the offensive line is stocked and ready to go. Thomas, Hartings, Waters and Muliatalo are young but experienced enough to plow through any defense in the league. In the 19th round the Norsemen selected the best blocking TE in the draft with the selection of Reggie Kelly. We have two excellent backs in Dunn and Davis. Jake Delhomme is a steady QB who has two excellent receviers in Mason and Kennison. This next selection solidifies the offense.

Versatility is the name of the game around here. A player that will play FB on 1st and 2nd down and switch to TE on 3rd down and passing formations the Norsemen were shocked that this player was still around!

Introducing the Norsemen's 26th round pick, H-Back Jermaine Wiggins.

R. Rich
05-04-2005, 02:38 PM
Assassins head coach Kirk Ferentz made an impassioned plea w/ both Exec VP/GM Kevin Colbert and Director of Player Personnel Phil Savage to grab our next selection before someone swiped him!

This player is a great young talent who will improve our secondary tremendously and maybe even compete for a starting job. He's solid in coverage, is a lights out hitter, and is very fast! He has some limitations, such as his height, but is still too talented to pass on. Not only that, but he has played for Coach Ferentz in college and, maybe most importantly, is from ERIE!! So...

the Erie Assassins select our hometown hero, Bob Sanders, S, with our first pick in the 26th round.

Assassins Exec VP/GM Kevin Colbert is ecstatic to get a quality guard this late in the draft.

This guy is young, very athletic, strong, and has pretty good technique. Coach Ferentz, a former OL coach in college and the NFL, is also pleased to see him still available. There are some questions about his conditioning, but the pros outweight (no pun intended) the cons in his case. So...

Assassins Director of Player Personnel Phil Savage feels that we shouldn't pass up the opportunity to get a good backup QB here.

Our next pick has shown that he is a productive QB. He's also a guy who can make plays out of the pocket and his decision making has improved over the past year or so. We're getting our insurance policy at QB here. So...
