    Quick cap question...Clump or Eb!

What happens to the money that we signed the UDFA's with after we cut them? It cannot be guarenteed money for the year is it?
Where else would you rather be than right here right now?

The only guaranteed money is in signing bonuses. If they're cut, they won't get their weekly salaries. Very few UDFA get any kind of signing bonuses

Nice. So we will actually have a better cap number after we cut the scrubs!

Not really...I think only the top 51 salaries are counted against the cap until Opening Day...at that point, all 53 players on the active roster must fit under the cap. Anyone under contract right now doesn't count against the cap if they're not in that top 51...if I remember that part of the rules correctly..Clump or Eb will know for certain on that ruling

          Not quite true, Phil-

Some of the more popular UDFA's who get contacted by multiple teams do get some small signing bonuses- some as big as 10-15 grand. Most either won't get much though, or will get just enough to tide them over during camp. What's his name- Goldberry? FB from Purdue- said the Bills offered better signing bonuses than some of the other clubs.

Only the top 51 contracts count vs the cap. All of your UDFA's make around $230-$250,000 - and most likely those deals are the 60th to the 80th largest contracts on the roster.

It's my understanding that none of the payments count toward the cap until the final roster is set.

If you look at Clumping Platelet's cap page- there is a total salary column, and a salary column that counts toward the cap.

The Bills, with the UDFA scrubs, the NFLE guys, practice squad guys, and all that = almost $53 million in salary. But the top 51 only = $45.1 million- that what counts vs the cap.
