Stampeders sign QB Gesser
Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Stampeders have signed former Washington State quarterback Jason Gesser after acquiring his rights from the B.C. Lions earlier in the week.
"We are very excited to add Jason to our stable of quarterbacks," said Stampeders general manager Jim Barker. "His mobility, leadership and accuracy as a passer give him the opportunity to be very productive in the CFL."
The 24-year-old Gesser signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2003. The year before that, Gesser shared the 2002 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year honor with Southern California quarterback Carson Palmer, who also won the Heisman Trophy for the 2002 season.
