3rd victim in the NFL of ACL tear in Minicamp

everett, poole, and now joppru.. i hate injuries...

Until about 25 minutes remained in the first of a series of on-field coaching sessions, Bennie Joppru had run, cut and caught with great consistency.

For one of the few times in his brief and oft-interrupted pro career, the Texans tight end was going about his business on Monday as just another one of the guys.

Then, in an unfortunately familiar scene, something went terribly wrong.

Attempting to make a cut in the middle of the outdoor grass field, Joppru tumbled to the ground and clutched his right knee. He tried to get up, but thought better of it and immediately was surrounded by trainers. Within minutes, Joppru had been helped off the field and loaded onto a cart, quite possibly the victim of a third season-ending injury in as many years.

Early indications are Joppru suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but general manager Charley Casserly and coach Dom Capers are holding off on a specific diagnosis pending further tests. An MRI exam is scheduled for today.

This ought to be one hell of an opening day.

These are big guys who are trying to move and cut like wide receivers. I wonder if they are just trying to do too much. The knee isn't designed to take that much pressure.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

This guys can't take a shower in the morning without getting a season ending injury. I don't think he's played a NFL game yet. Not surpised at all.
