Starting cornerback Otis Smith 's season ended when the New England Patriots put him on injured reserve because of a shoulder injury.
Smith, hurt in the fourth quarter of New England's 24-7 loss at Tennessee in Week 15, started 13 of the team's 14 games and had two interceptions. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one.
New England's primary backup at cornerback is Terrell Buckley ....
