Don't do it. Keep your tax $'s out of pro sports.

What a couple of bumbling morons. And you big Doug can go jump in the lake. Every sports team gets tax money, and that tax money will go to another city if we don't get it.
I see no need for a parking ramp however, and other major improvements. Hammister needs to back off from those requests, they aren't that desparately needed. What is needed is to straighten out the arena deal.

I don’t remember the exact figures but I think that if we don’t help subsidize the sale, Erie County gets stuck with the arena and the debt. Meaning the taxpayers would end up paying the same amount and not have a hockey team. So it’s either pay and have the team or pay and not have a team.

It sucks but it’s the deals that past administrations have made.

that was your boy Gorski who negotiated that deal...

folks, it is simple...if we lose the Sabres we get stuck with an empty arena that will cost us the same as bailing out the Sabres. the cost of the Sabres also includes national ridecule, butt of jokes, etc. Like it or not B-lo gets another black eye if they leave. One less thing for the people here and one less thing to attract others here. Every city has schools, every city has hospitals, every city has little things to keep their people happy. Losing the Sabres and/or Bills will just drive/keep more people away. jmo.

I just find it funny that people (who otherwise label themselves as conservative) think it's OK to use public money to support criminals, con artists and multi-millionaires.

Well Doug if you're not a sabres fan why post here. And if you're a Bills fan, we got state help for that stadium as well.

I think Hamister is stupid. Really stupid. He came here saying that he was going to buy the sabres and keep them here in Buffalo but in the Buffalo News he sounds like he really doesnt care if they stay here or not. Why does the arena need a $4.5 million new sound system when the arena is only 6 years old? ARGH. I hate this mess. If these sabres leave its going to be one boring life without hockey in Buffalo

If I hit the powerball, there'll be a new bidder.
