With the 1st round in the books, word is starting to leak out about what has transpired inside the CRK's war room.

It seems the CRK's had been trying for well over a week to move up in the 1st round to get Demarcus Ware to play LB, but were unsucessful because they didn't want to give up the heavy asking price. The team felt they needed to address their CB situation early in the draft and decided in the end they would stay put at #11 and hope one fo their top 2 CB propects would drop to them. Sure enough, Pac Man Jones was there for the taking. Team officials could be heard openly cheering in the war room as their turn to pick arrived. They hope to groom Jones to take over for Tory James within a year or 2. James is a solid CB with great ballhawking ability (8 picks last year), but is over 30.

Content that they addressed their top need with their 1st pick, the CRK's apparently went to work on the phones to move down in the 2nd round. after some very intense negotiations with several teams they ended up sending their 9th overall 2nd round pick to the Rochester Rampage for their 15th overall 2nd and a 5th rounder. this brings the CRK's rookie picks to 10, letting them max out their rookie pool.

After this deal, we hear they were talking very seriously with the Golden Brewsters in an attempt to move up to #17. We are hearing the deal was going to invilve 2nd round picks this year and next and possibly something else..... The deal fell through when the Brewsters abruptly hung up as they got on the clock and went ahead with picking a DT.

What exactly were the CRK's targeting with that pick? Well, we don't know for sure but there have been whispers in the press area that there may have been a heated arguement between OC Don Matthews and DC Marvin Lewis. lewis was apparently pushing VERY hard for S Thomas Davis. it's not clear who Matthews was pushing for, but it may have been either a WR or QB.

What do the CRK's have in mind for round 2? Coach Parcells has said to be leaning towards the offense, but it very likely depends who the best player on the board is at the time.

stay tuned.....

It's fairly quiet in the CRK War Room at the moment... some of the coaching staff are going in and out to the buffet of an array of Tostitos product, donated by HotBuffalChick....

Coach parcells has been seen working the phones from time to time but he looks pretty locked in on a target and is patiently waiting for his pick in about an hour and a half. He's listening to offers for an additonal second round pick if anyone is interested in calling, but he's not about to break the bank on one.

Quick report:

An actual fight has just broken out between the usually mild mannered Marvin lewis and the fiery Don Matthews... apparently they were discussing the next pick amoungst themselves when it escalated to the point where the 2 men began pushing and shoving. It ended abruptly when Coach Parcells screamed at them, and i quote "Quit acting like a couple of ****ing morons! this is my ****ing team and I'm going to make my ****ing pick."

Oddly, after Parcells tirade the room went silent for a few moments and then the tension was cut when everyone started laughing. no one harder than Matthews and Lewis. seems as though Parcells still has the fire....

turns out Parcells knew what he was doing after all and still got his man in the 2nd round after trading down. Burnett give the CRK's the young big OLB they will need to eventually replace Steve Foley.

In a stunning late night move the CRK's have jumoed back into the 3rd round by completing a deal with the retroraiders, sending their 2nd round pick next year for a 3rd and 4th pick in this years draft.

This move give the CRK's 12 picks in this years draft... including a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 2-4's, 2-5's, a 6th, 2-7ths and 2-8ths..... Sounds like more wheeling and dealing will be done before it's all said and done.

The gang at CRK Headquarters are VERY VEYR happy with the draft so far... to recap:

1st round - Adam "pacman" Jones (CB)
2nd round - Kevin Burnett (OLB)
3rd round - Jason Campbell (QB)
4th round - Josh Bullocks (FS)
4th round - Maurice Clarett (RB)

and they still have 1 more pick to go today! no word yet on who it might be, but if the draft ended right now the CRK's woudl be very happy.

with their final pick of the today teh CRK's feel as though they have struck gold once again!

They get a very talented, if not somewhat risky, WR in Chris Henry.

Although he has a long way to go to amke an impact, we have been hearing great things so far and with out 6th draft pick we felt we could afford to take the risk on this you and very talent WR.

We are very happy the way thing have gone so far for our team. We took a big chance by trading our 1st round pick this year, but in RETURN we got a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd for next years draft.

The 2nd round we were very happy to pick up a good young corner in Fabian Washington he will be a great addition to the defense.

The 3rd We picked up a very speedy WR who also is a great return man in Mark Bradley.

The 4th To pick up a Brodney Pool this late was great he is by far one of the top 2 safeties in college and will learn well under Rodney Harrison and Tebucky Jones.

But so far we are happy the way the 2 days have gone..

CRK's added:

G Elton Brown in the 5th
TE Joel Dreesen in the 7th

2 more playres we think will develop into starters in the NFL.

3 picks to go. it's depth time.
