Ross Verba will be released by the Cleveland Browns

Frustrated that he can't get a new contract, offensive tackle Ross
Verba will be released by the Cleveland Browns once he repays a
    $465,000 roster bonus.

Verba and the Browns have agreed to the amicable split rather than
drag out a contract dispute that began when the eight-year veteran
said the club reneged on a promise to redo his current deal, which
will pay him $2.9 million in 2005 and 2006.

Repaying the bonus he received in March was one of two options the
Browns gave Verba and his agent, Tom Condon. The other was to give
Verba permission to seek a trade.

I say we at least give a call and see what he would want.....what would that hurt? He and Gandy could battle it out in camp

I know Mularkay are familiar with AFC North division defenses. Does he know a thing or two about Verba? Looks like it will be his call.

I'm sure he'll giggle at an offer of league minimum. Even if we can't afford him, his signing elsewhere could bounce someone else out who can compete w/ Gandy.
I think he could be had for a little over half what he was making though.
So, Clump, how much room can we make for this guy while we're signing our rookies? My understanding is limited. I don't need an explanation (I can read your page for that). I just want to know what leeway we have.

Well since we got Cleveland's QB, he should be able to provide some insight on the lineman, eh?

I doubt he will get veteran minimum since he just gave back money and his agent would need to be as bad as Henry's to give that bad advice.
