    Here's something worth playing for...LOL

Loss to Saints, or a Lions win, would secure top choice
While many AFC teams will attempt to officially secure playoff berths this weekend, lost in the mind-boggling permutations surrounding all six undetermined postseason possibilities is that the Cincinnati Bengals can claim a more dubious distinction.

With a loss to the visiting New Orleans Saints on Sunday, or a win by Detroit at Atlanta, the Bengals will clinch the No. 1 pick in the 2003 draft.

In fact, the only way the Bengals can't claim the first overall selection is if they win their final two games and the Lions lose their last two. Such a scenario would leave both franchises with 3-13 records, and the No. 1 pick likely would be Detroit's since the Lions currently have a healthy edge in the tiebreaker which determines draft order.....more

The scary thing is that sometimes fans think that teams ae actually doing that...playing for a top draft choice. You can't guarantee anything with a top draft pick, however. And even if they do turn out to be studs, they are still only small parts of the puzzle.
