View Full Version : Waivers/Player Movement

OK. Now that the rosters are set we must address waivers.

Waivers:
As per the constitution:
9.1 - Once the season starts, any player appearing on the most recent Action! PC Football disk that does not appear on any team's 53-man roster is considered a potential waiver claim free agent.

9.2 - All waiver claim free agent selections are to be done via the PM system to Ebenezer, Devin, R. Rich AND Mikey82. That way somebody gets it and you are awarded that player.

9.3 - After the first week of play, Waiver Claim Free Agents will be awarded based on the previous season's standings, with the poorest team drafting first, etc. After the second week of play, Waiver Claim Free agents will be awarded based upon each teams current:

a. winning percentage
b. head-to-head
c. division wins
d. conference wins
e. net points
f. power rankings

Since there is no previous season, until the second game it will be done on a first come first served basis.

9.4 - Teams are limited to obtaining a maximum of two waiver wire free agents each week. Before each deadline, each owner should submit a list in order of preference of any number of waiver wire free agents he wishes to choose and the 2 players he wishes to release from his active roster. Any owner who fails to post a list by the deadline forfeits his right to participate in the waiver claim process for that week.

9.5 - There is a 24-hour period directly following the transaction deadline where owners may appeal any decisions made by commissioners. No appeals may be made after the deadline has expired.

Trades:
8.1 - The deadline for all trades is seven days prior to the next scheduled game.

8.2 - Trading can commence at any time. No trading will be allowed after a team has played its 10th game in a given season until after the BZFL Super Bowl.

8.3 - No trading will be allowed between the preliminary Cut Down Day and the end of the free agent draft.

8.4 - Any trade may be vetoed by the commissioner, if, in his judgment, the trade is not in the best interest of the BZFL.

8.5 - Players may be traded for other players or for draft picks. No money (real or fantasy) or players to be named later or other gimmicks or loopholes will be allowed.

8.6 - One manager should place the unofficial trade on the forum page and the other manager will confirm the trade. The trade will become official when the commissioner confirms the trade on the forum page. If the forum is not functioning, the same process will take place by email and the commissioner will confirm the trade to all league members via email and/or via the PM system.

8.7 - Teams may discuss trades at any time after the season trading deadline but trades can only be made official and final during trading periods.

Question:

Do the players released for waivers claims still carry a cap hit? or a player released outright? if so how much?

Does this mean that the trades that we completed today won't come into effect until NEXT wednesday's games? because what if someone gets hurt? are the players still available to their previous team if this is true?

they count 1/2 of their salary against the cap...cuts in the offseason will be applied to next year's salary.

For this week all the traded players are open to play in week 5...I will review this rule and give a ruling later.

this why I wanted no trades during this time...the spreadsheet is supposed to be final when you hand it in. Once you give guys contracts they count against the cap and cutting them results in penalties and escalations.

I will allow the trade but if you cut anybody from your roster you will be stuck with a salcap penalty. If I don't do that guys are going to be trading people that they put under contract left and right.

Canadian'eh!
03-29-2006, 08:34 AM
well.... Bulger wasn't under contract... so it shoudln't matter right now anyway, for F_L or me, since he traded a pick and not a player.

but i guess if F_l is gonna RFA him then you could have a good point there.

But you let a guy un-cut a player, who he cut, then when eveyrone asked about a trade for the guy, he says he "accidently" cut him. Right. Eb, you can't let one person get away with something, and then put your foot down on others. It should be one way, or the other.

I agree. I will also say that if you decide to do this, make this a grandfather clause. As of next year, any cut that is made on the board counts immediately. Or you could tell everyone that no cuts will be allowed until you turn in your spread sheet.....unless u need to free up some money or are picking up a FA.

What is the point of all this.........Next year when rosters go in and are finished thats what really matters teams can cut players and sign them right away so basically thats what I did then if you want me too I will sign him right now and trade him in 1 hour to the 4 others teams that want him, I still have the right to him over anybody else on this site.....I really dont give a rats a@@............I made a mistake...OH MY GOD.......If Ebenezer wants me to do different then thast what I will do........I dont want any drama at all, Im way to busy for this...........Till then TY LAW is on the block to be traded, and I know that most players have tarde value if you ask around anyway.....

The point is I tried to remove an RFA from a player after I aquired QB Marc Bulger, but I'd already submitted my Spreadsheet to Eb. I submitted the spreadsheet a week BEFORE the due date. He refuted my request to remove my RFA tag, which is fine, but I merely pointed out that he allowed you to reneg a cut you made, so what's the difference. And, dont' hand me that "The spreadsheet is the official way" BS either. We all thought posting the cuts in this thread was "official" until a few days ago.

whoa.. wit a sec. It SOUNDS like you cut Law for salary purpose THEN found out you could have gotten something for him and decided to say you didn't mean to and "reclaimed" him as a mistake, whihc it obviously wasn't.... you realized he had value and took him back so you could trade him now... THat hardly seems right to me.... if we are trying to run this league with as much realism as possible then this shouldn't be allowed... you can' announce you've released a player then say ooops he's of value nevermind.

This also confuses me somewhat. What purpose did cutting a player before the stats came out have? I was rather surprised that so many were anxious to do it without any of the really important data...

Well there was like a five day span that we had the stats and we were still posting cuts in the thread (I made my first round of cuts like a day after stats came out). But still, a lot of people posted their cuts before then. And yes, I agree with you, that baffles me that people would do that. But whatever, to each their own.
