Our 3 best players/future players are Goalies. You wanted to spend a couple of Million on another goalie?

You would be better off trading one of them for a dedent player and pay that player what you would have payed Dafoe.

Of course, the sabres have no money to do this in the first place....

If you were a hockey team in need of a goalie-

1) Would you sign DaFoe for , say, $3 million


OR

2) Let the Sabres sign him for 3 Million, then TRADE him for players and sill have to pay the 3 million? That doesn't make sense.

And if you are Byron Dafoe- would you sign with a team that will trade you immediatly? If that happened, no respectable FA would sign with a team if they traded the guy immediatly.


Heck, in my recollection, the only FA I'm aware of to be signed then Traded within 2-3 months was Donald Audette. He left the Sabres (on his second tour) and signed with Dallas. Only to be completely miserable under Hitchcock. Dallas dealt him to Montreal, but Audette WANTED OUT at that point.
