As I'm in PA conducting business, found out this guy at my vendor is a huge Bills fan. He's never heard of BZ so I promptly directed him over here. Hopefully he'll show up soon. I think it makes it easier to do business with these guys.

we're just like roaches- every time you think you've gotten rid of us, one pops up in the most unlikely location, and for every 1 you see, there's 1000 hiding in the darkness.

LOL I like the roach analogy!

Hey... BAM is down here! And has zero personal ties to buffalo!

Hell, we have TypicalBill in Kuwait for heavens sake!

I'm taking an online grad class and a girl from Nothern California let go that she's a Bills fan with no ties to the Buffalo area.

Of course I directed her to another site but the bulk of the story is the same.

It's that way for alot of teams though. You just notice because they are Bills Fans. The 2nd most popular NFL Team in Buffalo is the Dolphins. I know many Dolphin fans in Buffalo including myself. I would say I know 5 Dolphins personally and a bunch of people I just know a llittle bit.

Really? I would've guessed the 2nd most popular NFL team in Buffalo to be the Giants or another team. I know 1 fin fan personally, and quite a few Giants fans and even some (tee-hee) Dallas fans.

Personally, the 2 teams I hate the most are the Cowboys and the fins. I do like Bill Parcells, and I wish he would get up and leave to another team...although, sometimes I feel he is secretly sabotaging them (like he did by getting Bledsoe). :)

No ties to NY period and I can proudly say that I went all the way to Buffalo just to see a Bill's game.

Actually there are alot of Bill's fans down here. NY'ers are like migrating to NM. I meet them all the time and they are blown away that I like the Bills yet have no ties to western NY.

I have come across very few Phish fans down here. Thank God. Nauseating bunch they are. There are no phish in the desert. Sure enjoyed the reality TV show with the cheerleaders on NFL Network though.

I never understood this until I moved to DC. In Buffalo, you're innundated with the Bills. Their logo and merch is EVERYWHERE and it's all anyone talks about during the season. If you're a fan, it's GREAT. If you're not a fan, it SUCKS. So people who don't like the Bills get driven to their biggest rival: the Dolphins. I can almost relate down here- Redskins fans aren't nearly as rabid as Bills fans, but I do get sick of seeing and hearing about them. And not surprisingly, there are a lot of Cowboys fans around here.

NYers are migrating everywhere because there are no jobs in Western NY. I know of at least 12 Fredonia grads (all except 1 are native WNYers) now living in DC cuz they couldn't get jobs in NY.

Although I did live in buffalo till 77..I'm in San Diego now. In that the time between then (77) and now ,I ve lived in a lot of places including Vegas . Let me tell ya first hand ,Las Vegas is loaded with Bill's fans. There are alot of Buffalo transplants all over the country and I guess we're spreading the word about "Bill's Fever" ! Unlike some other teams fans ,I think Buffalo fans are more loyal . Most other teams have "fair weather fans " . I don't miss the weather back east ,but would like to be a bit closer to My "home " team .

Given the Bills' highly publicized failures in Super Bowls, and the fact that some people love to poke fun at Buffalo in general, I think it takes a special breed of fan to be a proud Buffalo Bills devotee.

My hat is off to all my fellow Bills fans.

Don't forget the children of transplanted Buffalonians. Two of my three nieces, who were born and raised in southern Virginia and have never lived in Buffalo, are avid Bills fans. One has even converted her Florida-born boyfriend into a fan of the team. For the two of them being a fan of the Bills is, in a sense, a way of staying connected to their family's roots in WNY and family members who still live there. I suspect that there are more than a few other young fans who reside in different parts of the country who have either been raised as Bills fans by parents who are transplanted Buffalonians or who have become Bills fans as a means of staying in touch with their family's WNY roots in the way that my nieces have.I think that it's great that there are so many Bills fans around the country. I just wish that there weren't so many transplanted WNYers who had to leave the region for purely economic reasons.

Well, I'm from Spain, so yes, Bills fans are everywhere. I made myself a Bills fan back in 1988, when I was only 12 years old. My brother went over to the USA to study 12th grade in 87-88, and when he got back he was in love with the game. Just one problem, a big one thou, he came back as a Pat fan. Guess it was because they got to the SB that year. He brought me from the USA some nice football stuff, including a football with all the NFL team logos from the time. When I got to the buffalo I knew I was forever engaged with whatever team was that. When he told me they were the Buffalo Bills, I truly thought that I had never heard a coolest name for a sport team (well maybe the Bulls, but that was because of MJ). But then, he told me that the Bills wasn't a good choice, that they sucked (well, he already was a Patie, so....), and that convinced me: if my brother hates them, I gotta love them :p

And in 91-92, I went over the USA myself. If I had any doubt about my choice (which wasn't the case) Kelly, Thomas, Smith, Bennett and most of all, Reed (mainly cause I played WR in HS), confirmed I was right, that I had made the right choice. Those guy knew how to play. Since then, I bleed the same colours as you all do, if we win as we used to, or if we lose. I think it's also called a die hard fan...

PS: It's been a while since I lived in the USA, and only for year, so I hope my english is not that bad.

How do you watch the Bills in Spain? Do you have satellite? Do they have the NFL network over there?

Nope. Your English is muy bueno.

How do you watch the Bills in Spain? Do you have satellite? Do they have the NFL network over there? In fact I got my satellite just because of the many NFL and NBA games they started to show a couple of years ago. They broadcast live four NFL games per week: one 1:00 game (which is basically random), one 4:15 game (random also), SNF and MNF; and also all the playoff games. Last year I only got to watch one single Bills games, and guess which one that was... yep, that SNF against the Patsies. But I usually follow every week's action on NFL.com.
But we've been watching the Super Bowl for many years here in Spain, and that's why many of the football fans are 49ers, Cowboys and Patsies fans. I've been aware of the game since Montana's times, and I watched in Spain our first SB loss. The next one I got to watch it in Virginia.

When I went to Italy to visit a friend, he showed no interest in football and gave me the impression that Europeans in general didn't care much for American football (unlike soccer - which they call football). Are there alot of people in Spain that watch it, or are you an anomaly - maybe b'cse you've lived in the states?

I have a funny story. I am shopping one day at a local Dept Store (in Southern California). I am wearing a Bills hat. As I am checking out the cashier starts talking to me about the Bills he is a big fan. Turns out he is from B-Lo. As I am walking out to my car my Son tugs on my arm and says "Daddy there is some crazy guys chasing us". The Bills fan cashier is running down the parking lot waving him arms and screaming & holding a bag. He catches up to us out of breath. "You forgot a bag. Couldn't do that to a fellow Bills fan". We exchanged contact info and he became a member of our local Bills Backers. So see Bills fans are everywhere in places you least expect it. They are also "good people" who look out for each other and have each others back (unlike some other teams). Thought I would share this story.

Not too many Bills fans in NJ but there are still a couple of Bills Backers bars. Now NYC is a different story. The BillsBacker bar (McFaddens) sports an extremely loyal fan club that boasts well over 300 members. You've got to be in line by Noon on Sunday if you want a seat. $25 for all the beer and wings you can eat makes it enticing.

Only $25? Wow! That's pretty cool. Where is McFadden's? Bronx? Manhatten? Brooklyn? I will probably have to go some weekend to NYC so my wife can visit her best friend. If I can find this place, maybe it won't be so bad to go - I won't miss any of the game...

It's right in Midtown Manhattan. 42nd street two blocks east of Grand Central. Very convenient and easy to get to. It's kind of a high end Irish Bar that is COMPLETELY filled with Bills fans on Sunday afteroons in the fall. You should definitely check it out.

When I hosted a pre-game party for Bills fans in Dallas in 03, I met a Bills fan who had flown in from Jamaica for the Bills/Cowboys game. He was a Brit living in Jamaica and had never lived in WNY.

My son's friend here in Dallas is 21. He has been a Bills fan since he was 7 years old. He had NEVER seen them play live until I flew them to the opener last year at the Ralph. Boy, was he pumped!

And another coincidence. My younger brother (from Australia) visited last Christmas. I was telling his family that I had to take time out out to watch our late December game on NFL ticket. And was asking my daughter to take them to the mall. My brother said "I'm a Bills Fan! I'm watching the game with you." I was floored! He gets to see maybe one Bills game a year. He'd been a fan since 1989 and I never knew.

Yep, we can consider spanish football fans as an anomaly, for we are very few. Most of us are people who studied/lived in the US for a time, who got to see the game on TV (or, in my case, a Steelers-Bengals at 3 Rivers), or even played it (I was a WR in HS, but most of all an ST specialist :whistling ). I guess some others popped out when Barcelona had the Dragons, the NFL Europe franchise that got to the World Bowl the first two years of competition, but the sport media never paid them much attention. It was really something exotic, as it was the spanish football league, which featured teams in Madrid (Osos), Cataluņa and other regions. And finally, the satellite TV, which shows not only NFL games, but also NBA, NHL and MLB (not MLS, 'cause that would be a joke), has also drawn a bit more of attention to the american pro-sport world.

And thanks to the Net I can meet other spanish NFL fans. Otherwise I would be pretty much alone... Europe is a soccer continent, no doubt.

Well I know at least one more more Bills fan living in Spain, my brother-in-law, Mario. He was born in Italy, raised in the south of France, and spent the majority of his adult life in the USA. Somehow he ended up in Dayton, OH (must have thrown a dart at the map of the USA and lost....hey, I must have lost too). He moved to Barcelona 2-3 years ago and opened a restaurant with my sister-in-law and they've been doing very nicely.

About 4 years ago , a new couple moved into the house directly behind mine and when we met, we introduced oursleves over a couple neighborly beers. Before long we began talking about football, and he's a Bills fan! A native Daytonian but follows the Bills..... Needless to say, we get along just fine...

Tampa, FLA has many Bills fans (my sister and her husband included). Many ex-Western NY'ers there....I lived south of Tampa for about a year back in the early 80's.

Me? I'm from Kenmore, NY originally and moved to Dayton (job transfer) 20 years ago.

Bills fans ARE everywhere!

Kenmore, too funny.

I did 3 years in Tampa, followed by 1.5 years right in Davie, FL 300 Meters from Dolphins training camp.

So close to the fish practices I could smell the Pot burning.

Living there watching weak azz dolphin fans try to get excitied about a team going nowhere was funny and sad. I do have props for Zach Thomas though, hes a bad man.

Born raised in Roch-cha-cha on garbage plates, G-Light, Labatts, and Abbotts Custard (6 year employee). If you dont feel what im saying then you aint local.

Florida is ALL transplants so dont be surprised by some Bills fans there.

Now Im stuck in Panthers country where they Think Jake Delhomme is a good player, and its hard to keep a straight face when they cheer "to the superbowl!"

QUESTION for the geeks.

Panthers are at Buffalo this year...so are the Bills at Carolina next year?

I spent the first 10 years of my life in the Village of Kenmore, which borders North Buffalo. Back then it was nice place to start out.

It is too sad what's become of the old hometown. It's as if only the Bills keep me connected to the area at all these days.

In fact, I was also the only Bills fan in Wytheville, VA, back in 91-92. There was a strong Redskins fan base there (so you can imagine the hell I went thru that year after the Skins beat us in the SB... :teary: ), and also some Steelers and Cowboys fans.

Here in Spain, as I said before, the few people who like the NFL cheer mostly for teams like the 49ers (thanks to Montana and Young), the Cowgirls (the three-peat), the Pack (because of Favre), and the Patsies. You know is always easier to become a fan of a winning franchise when you don't have any personal ties to the cities where the NFL teams play at... :;:
