Holmgren likely to get one more year in Seattle

Looks like we can stop all the dreaming of getting Holmgren for another year
    By Pete Prisco
Despite a disappointing season, it now appears Seattle coach Mike Holmgren is going to be back with the Seahawks in 2003.
The talk making the rounds in league circles is that Holmgren will be given a one-year reprieve to turn the Seahawks into a playoff team. The problem with that scenario is that Holmgren has a three-year option in his contract, according to a league source. The team has to exercise it 15 days after the season ends if they want him back or he'll be free to go elsewhere.
That means that if the Seahawks commit to one year, they're committing to three, unless they void the option and gave him a new one-year deal. That option calls for Holmgren to be paid $16 million over three years and $4 million next season, pretty pricey even for Paul Allen. ........more
