Mike McCarley, vice president of communications and marketing for NBC, said, “They (NFL) came to us with a flexible scheduling idea. Sunday night was the one night that made sense for us.” Plans are for the network to begin with a 7 p.m. pre-game show followed by an 8:15 kickoff.

Another plus for NBC is that no one, including ESPN, will be able to air any NFL highlights until midnight or after on Sunday. “So people will be tuning into NBC for highlights,” said McCarley.

Maybe NBC will try to pry Chris Berman away from ESPN.

Because nobody is allowed to show highlights until after the NBC game is over, at midnight. :ill:

NBC will probably do their own cheesy version of the NFL Primetime show.

That's a shame, the best football show of all-time besides an actual football game IMO

Will there be any football highlight show by ESPN. Not giving the best in the biz a oppurtunity, and leaving it up to some network that cant even get their booth straight just up and sucks. If the networks do have some highlight show, itll probably be biased to the same ole same ole big market teams showing the suckups they are.

So move Primetime up to 6 pm. Actually thats a bad idea too.
I'm surprised ESPN got stiffed like this. They do more for the NFL, high def as well, than any other network. Berman is the most popular football guy out there.

well at least they can still do an NFL primtime show , just not on sunday. Though it does suck not having to see it on sunday like we are used to, ESPN dosent have to lose the show altogether.....right?

Good point. It might just be a combined Primtime/Monday Night Countdown, which is basically what we've seen Mondays, anyway. Berman and Jackson have been doing this way too long to get ko'd by a lousy contract clause. I don't see the point. And of course, no major network news show will air a story about this, for fear of causing bad blood and losing NFL rights.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to send some feedback to the NFL about this.

that really sucks. primetime, though it has sort of gone downhill the last few years, was still a sweet show. Berman is annoying though, I like hearing what Tom Jackson has to say, at least he analyzed instead of giving me headache with a schtick...

all I hope is that NBC doesn't put some lameass like Costas or Enberg on highlight duty... if that's the case, then I'd rather wait til midnight and get highlights from somewhere else.

They will probably move the NFL Primetime to Monday night. It makes sense and they can include the SNF game too.

Only thing that sucks is that it's not the same. I want my highlights when I'm hanging out at Dannys for wings or when I get home from the game. :(

I relied on Primetime to see my Bills highlights. Now I'm going to have to wait another day?

Yes it does. I hope espn has enough sense to put together a little more extensive highlight session for Monday mornings instead of the usual sportscenter ones.

you mean the ones where they show eagles, giants, and cowboys highlights for 45 minutes then just show the scores of the rest of the games. yeah, i hate those too.

"Primetime" has sucked for the past few years. They don't go into any more detail than Sportscenter does. And Chris Berman's schtick has passed its expiration date.

Hey guys....wait. All these TV changes don't take place until 2006 season right? We have one more season of the status quo, right? Heck, you might die before the 2006 season.....enjoy this coming season, we'll worry about the TV changes next offseason.
