    Pick 5

I was talking with a fellow Bills fan at work today, and he asked an interesting question. Thought I'd share it with you all, if you could guarentee that 5 players on the Buffalo Bills would finish out their careers here in Buffalo, who would you pick. In other words, who are the 5 guys you would want to build this franchise around. Here's what I came up with:

    1) Willis McGahee
    2) Nate Clements
    3) Takeo Spikes
    4) Lee Evans
    5) Mike Williams

    honorable mentions: Shobel, Moorman

    Who would you pick?
    Its all about the quest.

    1.) Willis
    2.) C-Ment
    3.) Lee
    4.) Spikes
    5.) Moorman

Add Losman in there if he does good...

    Honorable mention: McGee, Schobel, Flecther.

            In no particular order...

W.McGahee - A busted up knee and he does what he did? Looking forward to the future.
L.Evans - 2 busted up knees and he does what he did? Ditto.
E.Moulds - Always been a favorite of mine. Sure he's got cement hands lately, but he still performs.
T.Spikes - largest neck I've ever seen next to Henry Rollins
D.Shelton - that guy just does his job...no matter how small...and does it right.

course, I would have wanted A.Reed, D.Beebe, B.Smith, C. Bennett and T.Thomas to spend the remainder of their careers in Buffalo...we all know how that went.

McGahee and Spikes because I have their jerseys.

              Seriously, though-
              Willis
              Lee Evans
              Spikes
              Nate Clements
              Sam Adams

Honorable Mention: McGee, Moulds. I think Moulds is replacable as far as talent at this point in his career, but he's been a Bill his whole career and was the lone bright spot during some dismal seasons. I'd like to see him retire here just because of what he's meant to the organization.

                think about this....

Moorman (this has to be the first one, if you are picking osmeone to finish his carrer in the team, you have to pick the position that will less harm you as the age goes up.. that would be the kickers... and I certainly dont want lindell... plus moorman is great!!)

Holocomb (solid backup, and great mentor... i would really want him to stay as a bill for the benefit of which ever is our starting QB... he will not make controversy, and he will help... and is not a bad player)

Big Mike (i just think he is going to emerge as he player we hoped he would be when we drafted him... and he will play a vital role on the team)

Takeo (is a leadear and great motivatior, great for rookies, and for the defense in general)

Clements (going to be one of the best)

now that teams know mcaghee, evans and mcgee... we will se what happens this season...

                  L. Evans
                  M. Williams

I'd also throw Moorman in there as the extra starter. I like Moulds, but age is against him. I also feel that Schobel would be a great "other DE" like Phil Hanson was, but he's not a stud #1 guy. However, I do acknowledge that he's improved as an overall player each year, so maybe I change my mind after this season.

I see schobel as more of a winstrom type player.

I can see that. Solid, but not an every-down game changer. Tackles don't take him lightly, but they don't fear him either.

                        1) McGahee-obvious
                        2) Rashard Baker--I think the guy is going to be a star.
                        3) Clements--about as solid and durable a CB as there is.
                        4) Mike Williams--not having to worry about the RT spot for 8 more years would be nice.
                        5) Moorman--athletic punters like him don't come along all that often.

I thought of Spikes, but he is not an original Bill, I thought of Schobel and Kelsay but I still have my doubts about them.
I thought of Losman, but am not sure he will be a success, and likewise with Lee Evans....I am still haunted by visions of Josh Reed being solid in his rookie year then falling apart.

My reason exactly for wanting Moulds to finish out his career with the Bills. He has a chance to be a rarity in today's sports culture - a one team player.

                            My choices (in alphabetical order):

                            Nate Clements
                            Lee Evans*
                            J.P. Losman*
                            Willis McGahee*
                            Eric Moulds

                            Honorable mention to: Takeo Spikes

*Assumes that they will have above average to great careers.
