I was just reading an SI from 1995, and they said what the
HOF chances of the players playing then were. They said Bruce Smith was a shoo-in, Thomas was 50-50, Kelly was a long shot, and Reed was a long long shot.

So what do you think now that Kelly and Levy are in? Bruce is a shoo in, Thomas probably wont be elected in his first year, but he probably eventually will be. Reed is at a disadvantage because he was overshadowed by Rice as the greatest reciever of that era, and Reed had sort of a bad attiude towards the end of his career, and he never got 1,000 receptions, but he should still eventually get in. Talley, Bennett, and others are long shots.

I'm still surprised Kelly went in on first ballot. I love Jimbo, but it's arguable that he was first ballot great. Thurm's stock has dropped I think.. he'll get in, but not for a while. Andre Reed will as well, though he'll have to wait a couple of years.
