    Salary Cap Update 7/3

Just wanted to send out a cap update for those that are interested. A couple of recent burbs, one from the Buffalo News and one from Len P's Tip Sheet apparently confirm that Mike Williams' $3 million roster bonus was "guaranteed" (i.e. converted to signing bonus). It's now spread out over the remaining 3 yrs of his deal at $1 million/yr. On the surface it's a $2 million cap savings in 2005 (add $1 million to each 2006 & 2007), however, the conversion may increase his "Deion charge" which currently stands at $360,431. Thus, the cap savings may be slightly less than $2 million. I still have to do the calculations and get some guidance from one of my sources

I presently have the Bills $2,782,291 under an adjusted salary cap of $85,721,000 with $5,382,941 "dead cap". Still missing bonus info for RB Joe Burns and TE Ryan Neufeld.

Bills' rookie pool is $2,109,800. 7th rd pick, RB Lionel Gates, signed a 3 yr deal with minimum salaries and a signing bonus of $34,000. His 2005 rookie cap number is $241,333 (only his signing bonus amortization of $11,333 presently counts on the overall cap).

$2,109,800 - $241,333 = $1,868,467 remaining for the draft choices who have yet to sign

Thanks, Clump. I guess you've confirmed why we haven't signed Ross Verba, Ty Law, Anthony Thomas, Floyd Womack, Rick DeMulling or any one of several players that many of us were interested in.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

One typo......the amount under at the bottom is correct. The amt in the text after the date is the old number I have

Hopefully, Dozer can fix it soon

                          Re: Salary Cap Update 7/3

Well, if TD really wanted to sign a more expensive player (like Verba) he probably could swing it with some creative financing and reworking a couple other players' contracts, but that only means the devil to pay down the road.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.
