    Tim Brown retiring

Class act...(which is strange considering he was a Raider most of his career)..great production...definitely a lock for the HOF
Only thing is, they're talking like he'll be in his first year eligible...and I don't see that happening for any WR but Jerry Rice at this point...they've really been slacking on getting the top WRs in there, IMO

too bad Jerry Rice won't follow suit. The guy's probably the best ever but he's just embarrassing himself now.

James Lofton was leading the league in receiving yardage when he retired and it took him 4 years to get in. Art Monk is ranked pretty highly and he has yet to make it in...Tom Brown will be waiting a few years...I'm sure of it

of course...now...but when they retired they were league leaders..WRs are slow getting into the HOF..they have been for a while now. Rice will get in 1st ballot...but beyond him, I'd be surprised to see anyone get in that quickly unless they induct a lot of WRs the nexst few years

I don't have a problem with Jerry Rice playing on. I hear what the naysayers are saying, but the guy is cemented as the greatest wide receiver ever, period. He is a class act who wants to continue playing for the love of the game, the camraderie, and to teach the young players. I can't fault a guy for that, especially one who has given as much to the game as Jerry Rice.

                        Tim Brown set to retire

One of the greatest receivers in NFL history is hanging it up, NFL Network insider Adam Schefter has learned. On July 18, Raiders legend Tim Brown is scheduled to announce his retirement after 17 seasons in the NFL. The 1987 Heisman Trophy winner will finish with 1,094 catches, nearly 15,000 receiving yards and 100 touchdown catches -- marks that surely will land him in Canton in 2010.

Tim Brown was my favorite football player all my life. to one hell of a career. It made me sick seeing him play for the Bucs though. He made his 1000th reception on my birthday on MNF against the jets. One day I happened to be talking about him, and told a friend I hope he never leaves Oakland. I then turned on the TV to see the headline: "Tim Brown departing from Oakland" What a slap in the face.

Conrgats to Tim Brown on a great career and getting out just in the nick of time. I wish Jerry Rice would do the same before he loses anymore respect.
