The top two teams in the BFZ FFL League #3 squared off in Week 16 for the league championship. The OJ Bruno Maglis (11-3) and the Western NY Brawlers (10-4) came into the final game placing 1 and 2 in league standings.

The Bruno Maglis had what appeared to be a tough decision at QB - Green, Fiedler, or Maddox, all of whom are capable starters. Despite being without his top two RB weapons Holmes and Richardson, Green had a monster game, scoring 30 FF points. Running back depth proved to be key when both Marshall Faulk and Stephen Davis ended up being complete non-factors. Clinton Portis and Jamal Lewis didn’t exactly set the world on fire, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively, but did provide enough to keep the Maglis from collapsing after the loss of their two starting RB’s. On defense, Rhonde Barber and Darren Sharper had above average games, scoring 6.5 and 5 points. However, the Maglis left Peter Boulware sitting on their bench where he scored 7.5 points on two sacks and three solo tackles.

The Brawlers started off slow when Ricky Williams was only able to manage 7 points against a weak Minnesota defense. But the Brawlers climbed back into the game when their receiving trio of Coles, Burris, and Mason had solid games, scoring 13, 12, and 11 points. Even Marcus Pollard chipped in 8 receiving points with 69 yards and a 2-pt conversion. On defense, Justin Smith and Champ Bailey had strong games, Smith getting 10 points on 4 tackles and 2 sacks while Bailey pumped up his score with 4 passes defended. Ironically, it was the QB position that doomed the Brawlers. It appeared that the starting decision was a no-brainer, and indeed it was, with only Garcia and Collins on the squad. However, while Garcia was posting a respectable but pedestrian 14 points, Collins was doing his rare Dan Marino impression, scoring 38 points while sitting on the Brawlers bench. Jason Hanson pitched a goose-egg, missing his only FG attempt and hitting on only one extra point.

Final Score: Maglis 100 - Brawlers 93
