Let's do some math. We will assume the new cap number to be $37million.

Let's say the minimum ends up being $400K (it will probably be higher) and that each team has 25 players under contract. That means $10mil of the cap is already chewed up leaving $27 mil to spread out among the 25 players. That's just over $1mil per player. Now, let's say that a team has 2 $5mil players. You can take another $9 mil off of that leaving $18 mil to spread over 23 players...Any team with two players making more than $5mil is going to have a lot of bargain basement players on it!! Got to love it! The players really are taking a huge rollback. Players like Bobby Holik will be lucky to get $3mil!!

If they don't fire Goodnow, they are even dumber than imagined. He basically screwed the players. They should've taken the deal offered back at the start of the year. Looks good on them.

The players aren't stupid for following Goodenow here. He had their confidence going into this thing and he got them a killer deal to end the '95 lockout. Goodenow took a gamble and lost. It's kind of like Drew Rosenhaus. Players love him and have confidence in his dealings and for good reason. However, he is taking a huge gamble with Terrell Owens, and probably will lose. However, this does not necessarily mean his demise. The players aside from maybe Jeremy Roenick still seem to support him.

That said, the guy is still a scumbag and I hate him.
