Woodbury says he's sure he'll make Bills' roster

Tory Woodbury hasn't given up his dream of playing in the NFL.

Woodbury, a former star at Winston-Salem State, will be in training camp today with the Buffalo Bills at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y. I really like him over Matthews because Sam Wyche represents me the best QB coach in the entire NFL and Tyke Tolbert converted a former college QB to an elite NFL WR (Anguan Boldin) but please, it doesn't mean that Matthews is a bad player.

Coach Mike Mularkey is a tricky plays specialist and if Moulds is throwing the ball in this training camp, IMO Woodbury arguably brings to this offense more DIMENSION and I hope he would be an amazing and way cheaper "Matt Jones"

I think Mularkey would like a "Slash," whether it be Freddie Smith, Roscoe Parrish, or Woodbury. I think the odds are pretty long on Woodbury, however, with Matthews being a much safer choice as 3rd QB.

I do not see Matthews as much value as a #3 QB. As a assistant QB coach maybe but not as a #3 QB. Bills ought to offer him a staff position like they did that QB for Denver and tell him if a QB is injured, he'll be signed on a game-to-game basis.

I think they want Matthews as an on the field advisor for Losman. They still might do as you suggest, though it wouldnt be exactly the same. It will be interesting to watch.

If you have an established QB, then yeah- #3 should be a development player.

Our Development player is the starter. We need veteran backups.

I wouldn't regard Woodbury as a developmental type player in that he will never "develop" into any kind of regular. He's more of a "niche" player. He's not good enough to ever be a starter at any position, but if he makes the team, maybe he can do some specialty type things other players can't though, things like a slash role or a demon special teams player.

Totally agree. It's a very viable option to retain Matthews and I would add some factors to see Woodbury as a #3 QB:

1. Underdog Tom Brady was a #4 QB in Profootball Weekly several years ago.
2. Speed is something serious to consider with the word "uncertain" surrounding the Bills OL.
3. Three veteran mentors? (including coach Sam Wyche and without consider Tom Clements...)
4. Injuries are always issues to consider and I remember a promising QB loosing more than half of the season and the other one (Holcomb) sitting out against the Bills with rib issues...

As a WR:

1. 6-2 and QB experience is really something to consider.
2. Twin QB? It remembers me a young Marcus Allen confusing defenses and throwing TD passes or what Jaguars tried to do with Matt Jones without a Tyke Tolbert...
