5 seasons ago they were in the Stanley Cup Finals- 4 seasons ago they were eliminated from the Conference finals on a Game 7 OT loss.

Their owner went to jail for corruption and fixing the books, they were run by the league, and finally sold.

If they had a normal ownership situation since 1999, they would probably been decent contenders for a few more years.

It's not like the ...say..Islanders who drafted in the top 10 for what, 5-6 seasons in a row?

During one Islander playoff series vs Washington I remember Dale Hunter cross checking Turgeon after he raised his hands after a goal- earning him a month's suspension. They went in the toilet after that.


Hey- the Isles scouting and drafting people did an awesome job- unfortunately they traded away all the talent before it blossomed.

Islanders are screwed. They have one of the worst cap situations in the league. I read somewhere it'll be about 24 mill to buy Yashin out.
