I was listening to the Empire Post Game Report on my computer radio, and they had Takeo Spikes comments on there, that in his words, Buffalo "Felt Like Home" to him...are these encouraging or what?

PLEASE get a link or something.

I would love to see Spikes in one of our unis right along with Newman, and Fletcher.

Spikes and Fletcher would be so fun to watch going sideline to sideline while Newman sacks the QB.

Now all we need to do is get Bryant Young in here to play right next to Ninja Williams.

He's looking for a good offer and he knows Buffalo is looking for a good LB. I'm sure the Bills were scouting him today. I also think Spikes was putting on an audition for them too.

Lets hope Cinci doesn't tag him

Maybe it felt like home to him because there wasn't anybody there. The Bengals sell out about 3 games a year.

I would get a link, and I am checking Empire's site now, but it was on the radio where I heard it.

I don't think the Bengals have the "tag" to use... they used it on Dillon last year (I think).

They didn't "tag" Dillon

Cincy could franchise him

i mentioned it before, if they tag Spikes, lets tag Price then swap. We will have a disgruntled WR, and they will have a disgruntled LB. They need a WR, we need a LB. Sound good?

Bills defesne next year would look good this way.

DE: Bruce Smith
DT: Pat Willaims
DE:??
OLB: Newman
ILB: Fletcher
ILB: Spoon
OLB: Spikes
CB:Clements
CB:Winfield
S: Wire/Prielou

Get rid of GW/JGs 46 defesne and go back to the 3-4.

Why get rid of the 46, we have put in so much time and it is starting to look like a really good fit, even with our depleted roster.

If Bruce comes in he ain't gonna start.

TD, what about Schoebel, he has looked promising as of late.

46 wont be gone, GW is gonna be here next year.

I heard that on Empire Sports Report last night, too- it sounded like an invitation to TD and GW to call him when the free agent market opens!

Cincinnati has both their franchise tag and transition tags available to use, and is likely to use one or the other on Spikes.

It hasn't worked in the past 2 years and has barely worked in the past 20 years. Its time to put the 46 Defense to rest.

Philly runs a modified 46.

Can you tell me when the last time a 3-4 team won the super bowl?

Whens the last time a 46 team did? 1985 Bears? How many Hall of Famers did they have on defense?

The salary cap will not allow a team to have a defense the way the Bears did.

And even better, despite the fact that Cincy has both tags to use, Spikes desperately wants out of Cincy, and assuming he gets out, I like our chances at nabbing him.

Sorry guys, but I think that they will franchise Spikes. They didn't use a franchise tag on Dillon, but he went back because there really wasn't any serious interest in him (which I have no idea why)

I am not sure about Franchising him, because if they do they have to pay him the average of the top 5 LBs in the NFL, salary-wise, and I hear that is between 6 and 7 Million.

IMO, since 1985 the 46 and 34 defenses have had an equal amount of success (the Titans went to the Super Bowl and have had a successful run in for the past 5 years or so to name one example, the Bills and Steelers have each done well in their time - all 3 of these teams having a fair number of hall-of-fame or near-hall-of-fame players on their rosters).
Personally, I'd love for us to find a championship-calibre D that doesn't require talented players. Unfortunately, this will never happen because its impossible. To win the Super Bowl, you have to have playmakers on both sides of the ball ... and in order to be a playmaker, you have to be talented. Even the Ravens in their Super Bowl year had Jamal Lewis as a playmaker on offense running behind guys like Jonathan Ogden ... so you really do need playmakers on both sides of the ball.
