I wouldn't be suprised to see them justify in their warped minds that Pinkston for Evans would be a fair trade. Complete idiots in that city.

What is there deal? It was already reported that they agreed to a deal with Baltimore for a 2nd and 3rd and that it only fell through because They couldn't work out a contract extension. I am not really that big on Simon. He would help for sure but getting him may prevent us from resigning Nate, who I think is MUCH more important.

bud i said that to a ffriend of mine the moment i heard we might be interested in simon. except i said reed and a 2nd. we must all remember reed might have only blown these last 2 years becuz of that qb that was throwing the ball to him was real bad. now that might be an over optimistic view of reed but i think its the way it is.

Philly fans don't really think that much of Simon. Consensus (in the 4 years I lived there) was that he was good at underachieving. Looked like a world-beater when drafted, has played well enough (i.e. the Pro Bowl), but not up to expectations. The people I've talked to down there aren't disappointed he's possibly about to leave.

thus I vote for "just plain stupid."

I just got back from the Jersey shore where I was hangin out with old college buddies from Phila....they seem to think that Simon is going Cincinnati and that there is no truth to Bills-Eagles talk....If TD gives up Spikes or Evans for Simon, I will lead a mob to his house and give fan justice......

All this talk got me thinking...do the Eagles need a LB? Is that why Spikes was mentioned? What if TD traded Stamer and a 3rd for Simon? Would people feel comfortable with that? We have crazy depth at LB and even some of the new guys looked fantastic in the scrimmage (Ezekiel, Towns, etc)

Outside the cap ramifications, I think it would be great to get him - though not necessary. I believe in Edwards, Anderson - and even apparently Bannan who had a great scrimmage and Mularkey even reported that he was in the contention for starting DT also. Perhaps Bannan has improved quietly...

Im in favor of trading for Simon, but no way in hell we give up Lee. They can have Josh Reed.

Sorry but that kind of sounds like the Eagles fans suggestions. A 3rd and a special teams player is not going to land Simon.

Hey they're allowed to daydream just like everyone else.

Someone should go there and "leak" to them that it's true, but it's Lee Evans AND Shane Matthews for Simon and McNabb, who can be JP's backup. :snicker:

I think they may ask for Reed and Edwards or Anderson in return. They need to replace Pinkston and Simon so it makes sense to ask for a reliable DT in return as part of the package.

B'cse Takeo was mentioned, I didn't know if they needed a LB - and just b'cse Stamer doesn't start does not mean he wouldn't make a fine starter on another team.

I know they could probably use a WR, but somehow I don't think Philly would be impressed with us giving them Reed - when we are replacing him as our 3rd WR b'cse he has not produced. And we don't have enough depth to give them anyone else that might be worth it.

As it stands, the best deal for them appears to be the 2nd and 3rd picks...

Actually, I kind of agree. I was just stipulating what he will likely cost. I think our DTs are just fine and even Bannan is apparently stepping it up. Let's lock up NC and many of the other veterans on our team that will be FAs after 2006...
