From the AP wire at work ....

ST. LOUIS (AP) … Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman
injured his left ankle early in the second quarter of Friday
night's preseason game against the St. Louis Rams and was
carted off the field.
Grossman, who played in only three games last season before
being sidelined by a right knee injury, was hurt with 11:08 to
go in the half as he threw a pass. After being flushed out of
the pocket and being spun around by Trev Faulk, he got back to
his feet. While limping, Grossman signaled for a trainer.
He then sat down and grabbed his left knee. He slammed his
helmet on the cart before he left the game.

he broke his ankle.. that guy would have no luck if it wasnt for bad luck.

this is from an email update i got...
WMAQ is reporting that Chicago QB Rex Grossman
has suffered a fractured left ankle and will be out 3 to 4 months.

The Bears did not go after a veteran QB this summer to back up
Grossman and have a pretty bare cupboard behind him. Chad Hutchison
has never done much as a pro and Kyle Orton is a rookie."

I feel bad for the guy. Guess thats what you get for drafting a QB from Florida. Anyone want to take bets on who the Bears sign to compete for the job. Im guessing Vinny T!!! There isnt much out there.

Yeah I heard he looked good in the last preseason game. But keep in mind that was against a bunch of 3rd stringers though.

Sorry about Rex, EE. :(

What the **** is wrong with Chicago? Didn't they learn their lesson last year? you need a reliable veteran backup Quarterback just in case your starter goes down. I can't believe they didn't sign one. :shakeno:

That's why they are the Bears...The armpit of the division for the last 10 years.

We all live with the same preseason fear - a serious injury to a key player.

If you remember, it's not like there are good QB's floating around every offseason. I know they tried hard to get Kurt Warner and someone else who escapes me right now, but the Bears told them that Rex was their man, and they would be backups, so they went elsewhere.

Well, we lost a key player (Roscoe Parrish) and hopefully it's our only one.

Where did you hear that? Originally I heard that it's an injury that takes 3-4 months.

Rex is having surgery today and will be out 3-4 months. :ill:

Wys would be happy though. They just signed Jeff Blake. :puke:
