Wade Redden. The Sens are looking to rid themselves of contracts. I don't know how much he makes but it can't be anything huge.

Re: Why does this name keep popping in my head?
The Sens are pushing the limits of their budget as is- and will probably try to trade for a young backup goalie once they get the bill for Marion Hossa's arbitration.
If he costs them a couple million, I can see them dealing. Buffalo will probably think Wade Redden's price tag is too high- but someone like Chris Phillips at $2 million might be had- Nooronen and a pick for Phillips would be a good deal for both sides.

Wade Redden is a great defenseman. He is good on the defensive side of the puck, as well as playing it as an offensive defenseman.
However, like Don said, there's no way Darcy is going to pay the price tag for Wade. Plus, he's a good blueliner, and won't fit in!(J/K)

Re: Why does this name keep popping in my head?
I have thought about Wade also. He could really help this team. He is a great dman. This is a perfect example as to how a team with a 34 mil salary could be alot better than a team with a 28 mil salary. And why it's difficult to be competitive with a cheap ownership.
Something that is lost with all the praise of the sabres being the youngest team in the NHL is veteran leadership.
I'd take Bondra (37) or Nolan (33) for that. They may not score like they used to, but if the price was right...Buffalo Only and Always.

Re: Why does this name keep popping in my head?
TSN has published an article regarding the Sens wanting to move Redden, more so because he's a UFA next year. However, as you'll notice, there are only 3 teams mentioned in dealing:
Florida
Los Angeles
Detroit
Report: Sens could move Redden
