Just read the article and that certainly is good news. I don't know what kind of money the Bills still have left under the cap, but I figure that Josh Reed and, probably, Trey Teague will be gone after this year and hope that the money that that would free up will help them to work out something with Clements. He is going to be expensive to keep, but developing someone to replace NC won't be that easy and will cost the team time that the core of the defense really doesn't have.

I'd like to see a 5 or 6 year contract, with a bigger bonus, to keep the salaries from getting too inflated.

Clements' agent, Todd France, attended training camp at St. John Fisher College on Tuesday and is scheduled to meet with the Bills brass today to discuss a possible contract extension for Clements.
 Clements' agent kicks for the Bucs?

Actually Pat Williams was offered a similiar deal to the one he signed with Minnesota. It was about $2 million less total value. All that total value was in the guaranteed money.

HOWEVER, Bills had a tighter cap situation than we all were led to believe. That probably played a larger role in PW and JJ leaving

The playmaker will want to be the highest paid CB in football. Some fans claim TD is following the Pats model. How is signing a guy for that much money in keeping with that?

As has been posted before, it would be possible to sign Clements to a high dollar contract and lower his cap value for this year.

I'd actually think we should increase it right to the max we can, so it'll lessen the hit for future years, thats how the Rams managed to keep Faulk so loong.

Thats a pretty dman misleading title to this thread.

The truth is that Nates agent is in Buffalo to talk. That by no means means that the two sides are working together. Only that they will talk.

I am far from the first guy to be cynical butthe truth on TD is that he does this every year, and has only resigned 1 good player to date before free agency, Aaron Schobel.

More often, he simply gets a sense about how much the player wants and then lets them hit the market.

I want Clements in the fold for good, and I think he is every bit worth the top dollar he will command. But knowing the way TD tends to be a cheapskate, it is unlikely that it will get done.

I hate it, I wish TD was different about this stuff but he isnt.

Hes only really had one good player to have to sign. All his drafts are coming due,so this will be a test showing what kind of approach hell have regarding future picks that are coming to term. Pat and Jonas each had a pretty good negative as far as getting big money deals. Nate is close to top notch and should be signed.
