I have seen this name thrown around a lot here.

I watched him today for the first time. He didn't really make any plays that stood out, but he still looked pretty good. I missed most of the third quarter though.

So has anyone seen a lot of him, or do you want him just because he has a cool name?

Who is he? (and do you know which threads??)

He is a LB for U of Georgia. He is Champ Bailey's brother and he actually broke champs vertical leap record at Georgia with a 46" vertical leap. I think Champ had a 42" or something. Pretty amazing. He is good at gettin up to block kicks.

He is like 6'3 or 6'4 but is light, only 220 or something. He seems to be kind of like a freak, like kearse. Undersized.

I think he would be exciting, but it sounds like he might go in the first round, especially if he does well at the combine.

I didn't see much from him last night in the bowl game either though, so who knows.

He's a big, but light, and fast, athletic OLB for UGA. I believe he was hurt for the Sugar Bowl, but continued to play, as I recall the announcers saying that Bailey came back for his team.

Led UGA tackles this year with 109 or so, plays on the strong and weak side. Had 5 picks, and 8.5 sacks. So can both blitz and play coverage, and has blocked 3 kick attempts. The guy is a freak.

I'd love for us to get him, but I really don't think he's going to be available in the mid-2nd round. But you never know, if teams get afraid of him because of his size, he could drop ... and every year there's always a player that seems to drop about 15-20 places below where everyone expected him to go ... maybe we'll luck out and it'll be Bailey this year. Colvin, Bailey and Fletcher really would make for a dominating core of LBs and wouldn't be overly expensive either (if Bailey drops to us, he'd only get mid-2nd round money, which isn't much at all).

hes a real team player, could have jumped last year and been a sure first dayer but came back for the team.

Bailey is very athletic and makes plays all over the field, but he misses a lot of tackles as well. He is a wild player who frequently gets out of position. He needs to get control of his game if he hopes to make an impact in the NFL. He is a little small, but has great athleticism and speed, so he could play in a system that protects the 'backers and doesn't give them gap responsibilities (like St. Louis, the Jets or Tampa Bay). However, he needs to learn to play under control, otherwise he will make as many bad plays as good ones.

So what are you saying ? He's a little Wire-like?

His missed tackles and is smallish, so he may fall to rd.2

I have heard that Boss Bailey may be converted to safety because of his weight.

We've already got one of those.

In that case, why would WE want him? God knows we don't need another guy who misses tackles. We've got enough of them already.

Who names their kid BOSS? That's pretty obvious. The same couple that named his older brother, CHAMP. Besides, "Boss Bailey" is really a great name for a linebacker.

I've watched him alot in College he is an awesome player and will make any D better I highly doubt he'll e there when we pick but if he is and we don't take him it would be a very stupid move of Williams and TD if him I see a younger Derrick Brooks.

well they could have named him wanker, but that would have been really mean

What is odd about naming the youngest "Boss" and the middle-child "Champ" is they named their oldest son "Ronald" (also went to UGA). Seems to me he got the shaft.

Ronald Bailey went to camp with the Cowboys as an undrafted FA but didn't make it. He signed with Tampa a year later but didn't even make it past July.

Bailey is far from the smallest linebacker in the draft class of 2003. There are a bunch of undersized guys, but Boss has enough height that unless he's got toothpicks for bones he could probably add some weight and play at 235 or so. I agree the odds are he'll go before Buffalo has a chance to pick him, but it's not a sure thing. If Buffalo did pick him and put him in the care of Rusty Jones and a good linebackers coach (which I'm not sure we have) I think he could be a great addition to the team.

They say he may end up a better player than his brother is. Champ Bailey, as much as I hate the skins, is pretty damn good. He's a very good cover guy and a solid tackler on the number 6 rated defense in the NFL. He's also a pro-bowler. So if Boss is better, I doubt he falls to us although you never know.

TedMock ... it seems as though almost everyone that gets drafted in the first 3 rounds is comparable, yet slightly better, than a perennial pro-bowler or hall-of-famer, so I'd take those statements with a grain of salt.

He also had some injuries in 2000- a severe knee injury that held him out for an entire year-that may scare some teams into letting him fall to Rd 2.
